I received an email from someone asking me about this, and I did not know the answer. Does anyone in here know?
No, Phonak Marvel don’t support MFi.
Ah, OK, good point. Curious, how well does Live Listen work for MFI-enabled aids? Anyone use this as a remote mic alternative, etc?
I have used it a few times and it was very good. I was at a fiends home an placed my phone in front of the TV so I could hear it.

Love that idea. Any noticeable latency / audio lag?
I don’t remember any, I will check next time. More than likely will be doing it this weekend as we are going back to our friends
I have used both Live Listen which is the MFi feature with iPhones, as well as the Remote Microphone feature which is part of the Smart Direct app. The problem with the Remote Microphone is that it seems to drop out after a fairly short period of time. The Live Listen seems better, but I have not tested it thoroughly. With either one, there is a bit of an echo as the sound trip to the iPhone is shorter than the real live sound coming a further distance to the HA mics.
I use Live Listen alot - Oticon OPN1 BTE. Prior to Firmware update 6.1, I found Live Listen not to work great with my new iPhone Xr , although it worked flawlessly on iPhone 6. After Firmware update to 6.1, it works perfectly, no audio lag. I also use it for sharing / streaming family phone conversations or important calls I need to be a part of - while the other phone is on speaker.
To eliminate the echo, mostly of my own voice, I will mute my aids.
I love Live Listen. It is a very useful feature - Thank you Apple!
I’m bimodal and I love live listen (iPhone 8). I use it all the time when I’m out in a restaurant, as that’s the only place I struggle that I’ve found so far. Cochlear’s mini mic (first version) is nothing more than a pain in the butt, having to pass it around the table. I’ve only tried it with 8 dinner guests so far but it works perfectly for me.
This is somewhat incorrect
We were successfully using Phonak Marvel devices with live listen until iOS 13.
Not sure what happened but since this update we continue to get “unavailable for current route” error message
The app will no longer pair with my hearing aids, ComPilot II, or ComPilot Air II. Why not?Product User Guides | PhonakThe Phonak RemoteControl is no longer able to pair with devices because it has become incompatible with the latest update of the iOS system to Version 13.
–with respect to the app used with pre-Marvel Phonak HAs.
Edit: I think the reason is that with iOS 13, apps have to get the user’s permission in order to use Bluetooth; that requires changes to the app.
I have live listen working with my KS9’s, I borrowed an iphone6 and paired aids with no live listen success. Then decided to download the Easy Line Remote App and paired that to the aids and the Live Listen was then able to be activated(I believe that the bluetooth le had something to do with it) . After experimenting a while I have found if I mute my aids then use the Live Listen it seems to be another tool for me.
I’m curious. Are you actually using the Live Listen in the iOS screen that you get with a triple touch on the home key? Or are you using a Live Listen in the Easy Line Remote App?
Yes, opening Live Listen by swiping up from bottom of home screen, not related to Easy Line App whatsoever.
I tried Live Listen today on my Daughters Iphone8 with iOs13. and could NOT get it to work but it definitely works with Iphone6 with iOs 12.4
Another update;
Since I was successful in getting Live Listen to work on an iphone 6 (that was locked to trackphone and not able to utilize for calls as I am on Verizon) I purchased a used iphone 6 for Verizon system but for the life of me I am unable to get to work on. I have checked every setting available on both phones to make sure they are identical and paired in identical ways to no avail. I am going to take phone to Best Buy and test it with mfi head phones. Starting to drive me insane!
I note the absence of Phonak from Apple’s list of Made for iPhone compatible hearing devices
Yes, for whatever reason Phonak has never signed up for MFi.
I have finally got live listen to work with updated Iphone 6 running 12.4.4 and KS 9’s. I used it a few times at medical clinic last week and it did give me another tool to use.
I can’t get Live Listen to work with Phonak Marvel.
