Do AI / Hear in Noise Hearing Aids work for those with severe and profound hearing loss?

As title: Do AI / Hear in Noise Hearing Aids work for those with severe and profound hearing loss.

I am asking this as I have been using the Jabra 30 / Resound Vivia 9 from CostCo for the last two weeks and I really got no benefit from the AI/Hear in Noise programmes.

When I switch to these programmes all sounds seem to just drown out and become so dull. Even the speaker I am trying to listen to becomes so dull/low.

Over the two weeks I have been using the Jabra I have tested it with a CROS hearing aid and the resound multi mic. The CROS I felt did nothing for me (I have always only worn a hearing aid on one side). The resound multi mic did help in table mode but then I just got used to not using it.

The HA was tested in various situations, in the final days we were in a very loud restaraunt and I struggled with and without the hear in noise programme. The hear in noise programme was actually worse.

I felt the HA worked well in a classroom setting or quite areas.

My plan is to order the Sphere and try that as I don’t like the bluetooth connectivitiy (can only connect to one device at a time) on this Jabra and it also has a tinny sound.

However before I do that I wanted to ask if AI / Hear in Noise Hearing Aids work for those with severe and profound hearing loss? Will I have the same issues with the Sphere? Is it better for me to go with the standard Infinio which I am assuming is smaller?

I’m not sure the issue is AI/Hear In Noise so much as those hearing aids may not have been powerful enough for profound loss. If you’re going to do a trial of Infinio Sphere HAs, I’d say you should probably try the 90 rather than 70 model, and specify a UP (Ultra Power) receiver. If those don’t work, I’ve read BTE hearing aids are the next thing to try.
As for smaller size, unless you have very tiny ears set very close to your head, I suspect the size of the Sphere “bean” probably won’t be an issue. The size of the Sphere units are supposedly due to the use of the extra chip and extra battery power.
Full disclosure: I am not a hearing aid professional of any sort. I just read a lot.

I haven’t got the AI/Hear in Noise program as my GN hearing aid is too old.

I didn’t like the Hear in Noise (none AI) program on my Aid as it was too quiet. I just have the All Around program and I have a profound hearing loss.

Altho I really like the new ReSound Enzo, I know as a person with a profound hearing loss and now a CI in my right ear, I won’t benefit from the new ReSound Enzo in my hearing aid side.

The navy blue in the new ReSound Enzo looks so so good. I wish my CI was navy blue but I chose grey.
