Distortion when using Oticon TV Adaptor

Is there anything I can do to stop distortion when using the TV Adaptor?

When I use Bluetooth, I don’t get distortion.

I have Oticon Xceed.

Which input do you use for your TV Adapter? The RCA inputs, or the optical inputs? If you use the RCA inputs and you drive the TV volume out to this input at a very high level, it might cause the distortion you hear. Try to lower the TV volume to see if it helps.

I have used the Oticon TV adapter for a long time and have never noticed issues. I use the optical fiber audio cable and the sound is great. I know i have used the TV adapter even back with the streamer pro, but I am not sure about the streamer.

I am attempting a switch to Oticon and connected the TV Adapter with RCA cables. I got interference and was totally unsatisfied with it. I switched to the optical (toslink) cable and the interference is totally gone away.

It’s the standard 3.5mm headphone jack as it’s a radio rather than a TV. (Is it the RCA cable?)

Lowering the volume does help but then the TV adaptor doesn’t get a signal and switches off.

I’m trying to listen now and I’ve turned the HA microphone volume down all the way and that has solved the issue.

:grinning:

Yeah, you gotta find a balance between too loud of the TV volume setting that would cause distortion, and too low of a TV volume setting that would cause the TV Adapter to not detect a loud enough volume and goes into standby. Hopefully you can keep trying and make adjustment to find that sweet spot.

Try moving the USB power cable away from the RCA cables - at minimum no contact. If the distortion goes away there is interference. You could try keeping the cables apart or getting better shielded cables. This is not an issue with the toslink cable as it is optical.

Also consider how you are powering the TV adapter. For example powering it from a TV might cause interference though more likely it is the cables making contact.

Anyone know where to start with that process in terms of shielded RCA cables versus a shielded USB cable?
