Hey all!
I’m testing some Oticon in-ear devices. I’m about to cut them because high volume music gets badly distorted. I’m using the largest speaker available.
Does anyone have an idea how this could be prevented?
thank you
Philipp

That is very possible due to compression to prevent feedback and also the design to prevent you from hear to loud of sounds.
Could be clipping - i.e. the HAs are being driven too much. If you’re listening to recorded music, you might solve the problem by lowering amplification by the HAs and increasing the source loudness.
My first aids were Oticon OPN 1, six years ago now. I found that when I went to a basketball game with a super loud, large pep band blasting away, the music was total mush. That was with the aids in the default, “general” program. When I switched to the music program, the music became clear. So maybe you need to have an additional program added to your Oticons.
Or, it could be what philbob said–too much amplification. Or possibly you need a more powerful hearing aid, that can deliver the sound without distortion.
