Difference programming cable cs44 and cs44 phonak type

My measurements were careful. I will look for another extension with 6 wires.

Since you are only really using 4 of the wires the extra 1 or 2 wire(s) you mentioned are not active in use anyway. Assume the cable is staight-through (wires are simply connected pin-to-pin), just leave the extra wires connected as they came but reverse the two wires (pins 3 & 4) that you mentioned.

With only four wires you would need those 4 wires connected to pins 1, 2, 3, 4. One of the four wires was connected to pin 5. The result is that pin-2 has no connectivity.

Sorry, the picture was lost.

My email says that another successful set of extensions were made by a guy from Croatia.

I ordered another Mini-DIN 6-pin extension cable from EBay. Paid only $1.59 total. Though it’s another 4-wire extension with no wire for pin-2. Darn!

Can someone give me an EBay (or other) source for a 6-wire extension?

These are sources for 6-pin Mini-DIN male/female connectors that you could use. You would just wire up your own adapters.

I would prefer to start with a 6-wire, 6-pin extension that already has wires connected to each pin. We already have two successful projects with these. All I need is to know where to obtain one.

If no one has a source then I guess I could I could take my multimeter to a local computer store and test the connectivity of pins 1-4 on the stock of Mini-DIN 6-pin extension cables.

This manufacturer specifies the connections. It’s a coiled version but a call to them may locate what you are looking for.

or e_bay seller id : pcmicrostore , search for keyboard extension cable

Good luck, and also I have a pair of oticon #3 cables (aprox 5ft long) for sale… asking $65+S&H if someone is interested. PM me.

I ordered 2 cables from pcmicrostore. Thanks to all.

Success!! If you want to see pictures of my project to make a DIY CS44A Phonak programming cable, Click -> HERE

Hi Revolter. There seems to be a contradiction in your instructions.

The write up states that pins 3 & 4 of the DIN are essentially swapped in order to change from a CS44 to CS44A cable. However, looking at the wiring diagrams (last 2 photos) it indicates that pins 2 & 3 of the DIN are swapped.

Which is it?

Swap 3 & 4… Click -> HERE

Thank you for the clarification, pvc
