Dehumidifier and Rechargeable batteries

I am trialling Resound Omnia aids. These are the first I have had with rechargeable batteries.

With my previous hearing aids (ReSound Enzos) I always put the aids in an electric dehumidifier box over night, but now I will be putting the Omnias in the charger overnight.

With my old HAs dehumidifying was essential and I had reliability problems when I went away and left the dehumidifier box at home.

Is there such an animal as a combined charger/dehumidifier?

How are others handling this issue?

Thanks

My Starkey charger has a desiccant insert. I change it every few months when the color indicates it’s time.

Maybe there is a place in your charger for desiccant?

Thanks @Zebras . That looks like what I need!

The picture seems to show a hole in the back presumably for a USB lead to enter the chamber and connect to the charger. Is that right? Can’t see it mentioned in the description.

Also I see it says compatible with ReSound Quattros but doesn’t mention Omnias.

I expect I can find out. Thanks

Thanks @HitFactor . The charger that has come with the Omnias leaves the HAs in the open…there is no enclosure, which must be necessary for a desiccant to work.

Yep. This was exactly the issue I was staring in the face after buying my Phonak Lumity Life rechargeable aids last summer. Cuz that charging base does NOT perform any drying or UV sanitizing like one of their charging bases for older model Phonaks.

However, I found the PerfectDry LUX at Amazon that I’ve been using. It’s small enough to travel with, but I use it as my daily dryer/UV sanitizer at home, too. It’s a bit of a cludge, but if I’m hopping in the shower, I can put the aids in for almost an hour.

With my Marvel battery-operated aids, I’d put them in the PerfectDry unit overnight - never an issue! It works with both battery-powered and rechargeable aids. But it WON’T recharge the rechargeables when they’re inside.

DOH on Phonak for not having a better solution that works at home AND on the road.

Thanks @1Bluejay …that Phonak combined one for older models looks ideal!.

I already have something like the PerfectDry LUX but as you say that doesn’t charge. I am thinking that as I always get up once or twice in the night I will have both on beside table and transfer between them…or get a Dry&Store one like @Zebras linked.

Signia sells a charger/dryer unit, all in one. but it’s super pricey–I forget now how much. Still, that’s what one wants–one unit that does it all.
actually I just checked. $260.00 on Amazon. UV? some say yes, others don’t say.

Thanks @Jeffrey. I am completely new to rechargeable hearing aids, but have assumed that chargers are brand, maybe even model specific. Is that not the case? Could I use a Signia Charger dehumidifier with ReSound Omnias?

I really doubt it! And a warning: rechargeable aids require a dedicated, low temp dryer. I had a standard dryer for my old battery aids, but learned that it’s too hot for rechargeables, which don’t have a battery door left open during the drying process. Bummer!

And to confuse me more, some Signia chargers are inductive, meaning wireless I guess. And some aren’t. Sheesh!
