Could Phonak's SoundRecover increase hearing loss in the cochlea?

Might the use of hearing aid frequency lowering, such as Phonak’s SoundRecover, ultimately cause further decline in the already damaged high frequency areas of the cochlea?

I assume SoundRecover does not amplify the high frequency sounds while simultaneously lowering them. Therefore, wouldn’t the subsequent lack of high frequency stimulation cause further decline to the already damaged cochlea?

It is amazing how SoundRecover has improved my ability to understand speech in both calm and noisy situations…my only concern is whether using SoundRecover might ultimately lead to further high frequency hearing loss.
