Costco Kirkland Signature 9.0 (Product Information)

My wife just texted me about getting her new KS9 aids from Costco. She said Brian the HIS was absolutely wonderful. He explained things very very well and so much better than the Starkey HIS ever did in 3 months. She has another appointment scheduled in three weeks.

The Costco that I go to does not stock hearing aids for sale. Once you have had all the testing done and have paid for them, then they order them. Takes up to 2 weeks more to get them in. No personal experience but I understand when Costco releases a new model the delivery time/delay can be longer.

Hey Sierra. That is how it works here as well. The plan is to get them ordered at that late Sept appointment, assuming that they are for sale in Canada at that time. I am due for new aids so choice and timing seems to be very good right now.

Comparison of my wife’s KS9 aids to my Phonak Audeo B90 13 aids.
The close up is just showing the KS9 labeling. They are small. I have been wearing Naida Up aids lately.

I’m a newbie here, never worn HAs before. My initial Costco Hearing eval showed mild-mid loss. Just got my KS9s last week. On the first day I noticed a constant static noise in the right ear. I restarted them several times and replaced the battery, but
nothing worked. I called Costco that evening (Glad they were open till 8 pm). They set an appt. at 10:30 the next morning.
My HIS (Kayla) checked the HA and said she could hear the static too.
She said she suspected a ‘bad wire’ (can’t recall the term she used, I believe it’s the wire that wraps over the front of the ear.) She left for about 5 minutes and returned. She replaced the part. All I know is the static no longer exists.
At this time, I’m extremely pleased with the HIS service, and performance of these hearing aids.
I return for my first followup next Monday. So far, these exceed my expectations (I can now hear my wife 90% of the time).

That’s great news.
Both you are hearing better and Costco quickly fixing a hearing aid issue. It’s really pretty amazing.

So, back to it. I got a pair of KS-9s today. Indeed, shutting off the WhistleStop (Feedback Manager in Costco version of the software) eliminates the trill. So, I had them shut it off across the board. Next hurdle, in Autosense, I am getting a reverb or slapback echo that resembles hearing in tiled room. In my music setting, I am not getting this. I’m not crazy about it. Any idea which setting causes this? Real Ear Effect setting?

I ordered new KS-9s today (8/8) in the beige color… They set my delivery appointment for 8/20. During the conversation, they said that certain colors were more readily available than others.

It’s about time to replace my KS6 hearing aids. In looking at the specs for KS9, it says they can only be paired with one bluetooth device at a time. That seems backwards from the bluetooth adapter with my KS6. They could only be active with one device at a time, but it could be paired with several devices (iPhone, iPad, laptop, etc.) and switch between them.

Can someone confirm that they have to re-pair each time they want to switch devices?

Thanks

I have the KS8’s so can’t answer your specific question. One thing you could consider is asking if you can still order the KS8’s. They are still available in Canada, and they are coming from the US, so there must be a supply of them somewhere. Also, I would think they would have to keep some backup supply in case they need to be replaced under warranty.

if possible connect the adtx trasmitter, connected to the cable box by fiber optic. the k9 tv adapter comes with a fiber optic lead installed…no latency…

Yes, re-pair each time. However, change of some sort regarding bluetooth is coming later in August.
Update: change most likely NOT coming to the KS9s. I was thinking of the Marvels.

It’s all conjecture at this point, but my understanding is that the change in Bluetooth applies to the Marvels, but not the KS9.

Thank you very much for that advice!

I believe you are correct that the KS9s will probably not get the coming bluetooth upgrades. I’ve been so engrossed in the Marvels that I forgot I was in the KS9 thread! Thanks!

You are right.

This KS9 thread has had more KS8 and Marvel information than the intended KS9 information.

Hopefully now that the KS9 aids are actually out to the public this thread will get some real actual feedback.

I think there is a good reason for the way the discussion is going. I was going to do a detailed comparison between the KS8 and the KS9 to see if it would be worth gambling on a switch. I didn’t get very far into it when I discovered the technical detail available on the KS9 is very limited compared to the KS8. In fact it is so limited I found I would have to assume the KS9 was essentially the same as the Marvel 90, and do the comparison on that basis, minus the known features not included. It makes me wonder if Costco/Phonak are going to be more up front with the technical data sheets and features, or if buyers are going to be left guessing what they really get.

The recptionist at the COSTCO hearing aid department handed me this when I made an appointment to get the KS9 aids this week:
