I wouldn’t be too concerned about the red x either except to ask if it is an indication of some problem with the right hearing aid. The main issue is that it goes dead sometimes when I change programs and stays dead. I get it to come alive by tapping another program and it will stay alive when I go back to the program where it had gone dead. Only happens on the right hearing aid. Seems like a Bluetooth issue for that aid. Also the right hearing aid will not stream. I think I may have a defective right hearing aid.
I have done all you suggest but with no solution. I even waited about 5 minutes after pairing before opening the choice app. This is frustrating. I have an iPhone 5 and intend to get the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 whatever they call it when it comes out later this year. I hope the KS6 will work better with that model.
Did you contact your Hearing aid person at Costco and ask them to troubleshoot? sorry if you mentioned this. I might have missed it. Seems like there is a Bluetooth issue, but how to troubleshoot the phone or the HA would required trying to pair and stream from another iphone or iPod or iPad. If they have the same issue, your problem is likely with the hearing aid. (Just my logic) I could be wrong.
Have you called the Member’s support for the phone app? My Costco hearing aid dispenser gave me this number if I had problems with the App 844-833-1133. I have an iPhone 6+ and Kirkland 6.0 and they seem to pair well.
I picked up the Kirkland 6.0 yesterday and love them!
The Kirkland 6.0 are MUCH BETTER than the Resound Linx2 5 that I was trying out.
The Costco fitter used much smaller domes.
The Linx2 5 had tulip domes which made me feel stuffed up.
These ear pieces leave space for natural sound because my hearing is “normal” in the upper ranges.
I have a congenital mild/moderate low frequency hearing loss in which I “miss all vowels and some consonants”
DO NOT BUY THE LINX2 - get the Kirkland 6.0 and save yourself a boatload of money and use that money well!! Cheers!!
Thank you all for your help!
You are not really limited on the type of dome to try. All the domes will fit the receiver. The tulips are a good choice for those who are having a little feedback and don’t want to go with a custom mold. I wore them for a couple of years and I didn’t get any occlusion or feedback, and they were very comfortable. I have the custom molds now, the soft kind, and they fit very deep, and are comfortable.
I’m surprised you are getting good results with open domes and low frequency hearing loss. Those usually don’t go together.
I demo’d the Kirkland Signature 6.0 yesterday at Costco while I had my hearting re-tested and had my Rexton Quintra 2C’s adjusted. I also had my hearing re-evaluated. The good new is that my hearing loss has not changed (i.e. it has not gotten worse).
The Audi demo’d the Bluetooth music streaming feature through the Signature V6.0. I was quite impressed. While Bluetooth music stream is a very nice feature, it is not a primary motivation. I may however find I use it more. That remains to be seen. I want to be able to accurately discern speech as much as possible. Also, when music or other audio sources are playing, I want them to sound more natural than my Rexton Quintra 2c’s. The Quintra’s tend to impart a slight metallic or synthesized tonality and character to music.
With the Kirkland Sig V6.0, my speech/voice sounded a bit unnatural and a bit scratchy to me where the Quintra’s sound more natural. But is that because I have been wearing the Quintra’s for almost 2 years?
This was just a quick demo of the Kirkland Sig V6.0 HA’s. So I need to keep that in mind. It was not a final fitting where detailed frequencies and volumes would be tweaked.
Ultimately however, I was impressed enough with the Kirkland Sig V6.0 that I think it makes sense to buy them and take up to 90 days to get them dialed in and compare to my Quintra’s which are in superb condition. Then, I suppose I could sell my Quintra’s on Ebay with new cups to offset the cost of the Sig V6.0’s.
lastly, I learned in this forum that I could use my iPod Touch for the Resound Choice app. I have the most recent version of iPod Touch. I also have an iPad Air 2. but I do NOT own an iPhone …which I am not sure I would like as much as my Android phone. So for now, I can always wait on the iPhone, although I would miss out on hearing bluetooth phone calls in my HA’s. That might be very handy. Are any iPhone users taking advantage of bluetooth streaming of voice calls with your iPhone?
G. Roberts,
You can get a phone clip + that will allow streaming and provide controls on an Android phone. It seems a bit overpriced but what in hearing aids isn’t?
I think your decision to trial them is a good one. As you said, things sound a bit different. In a week or so you should have a reasonable comparison. With the current aids only a couple of years old, you can review the cost:benefit rationally.

When you pair your KS6 with the Ipad, when you play a Youtube clip from a website the sound will come thru your hearing aids, which is really neat. I tended to avoid playing any videos on my Ipad because I couldn’t hear the sound, but with the KS6s I can hear everything. Same thing will happen when you are paired with your Ipod Touch.
Wow that is pretty cool for sure. What about iphone calls? Do they stream automatically via bluetooth to the Hearing Aid? Or do you still have to hold the phone to your ear?
PS: What are the limitations of the Phone clip +? Can it comfortably fit in any pocket and work well?
The KS6userportal.com has the manual for the phone clip +. This is the intro:
Phone Clip+ will allow you to connect your wireless compatible
hearing instruments to Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones. This enables clear and hassle-free phone connectivity, whether you are at home, in the office or on the move. The Phone Clip+ also doubles as a basic remote control making it possible for you to adjust the volume of your hearing instru-
ments and toggle through programs, when you are not talking on the phone. You can also choose to mute your hearing instrument micro-
phone to shut out environmental sound while you are talking on the phone or when you are using the Phone Clip+ as a remote control (function available on selected models only).
That is a great idea. My son has an iPhone 5 or 5S I believe. I will ask him if I can pair to his phone and download the app and see what happens. I’ll report after test.
I have the KS 6 and an iPhone 6 and do not have the Phone Clip+. All phone calls come in nice and clear from the phone to my hearing aids. Generally I set my phone close with the mic end pointed toward me. This allows me to use my hands when on the phone and they hear me just fine.
I am having the same experience with the same equipment- KS-6 and iPhone 6. It’s really great being able to hear the phone calls in my HAs automatically, and without using some sort of intermediate device. With my use, battery life has been reasonable* thus far, too. I have a follow-up fitting in a week, but really don’t have much of anything to complain about.
*NB: I was told by the fitter at Costco to expect 4 days from their 312 batteries. With my use (turned off 8 hours at night, otherwise just on), the first set lasted five days, the second set a full week. For the second set, I am following the prescription in an article I read that says to peel the tabs off five minutes before inserting them in the HAs to enjoy up to 40% more battery life. Seems to work, but with only one set, it’s too early to tell.
Interesting, I watched her did it and the software actually had moderate in bold as recommended setting. My follow up appointment is a month away so I’ll have to wait till then to change it.
