Costco Kirkland Signature 10.0 (Product Information)

Yes,this is because both are based on the Marvel and Paradise platforms from Phonak.

Not really, Phonak are known to carry the receivers over to new platforms, Unitron and Hansaton use the exact receiver’s as well.

Picked up my KS10’s today. Tinnitus balance is enabled and works. The biggest problem that I see is that not all of the Costco fitters have the updated Phonak Continuing Education about the KS10’s or Target 7.1. The ability to connect to 2 Bluetooth devices is a game changer from the KS9’s. The tap feature brings the KS devices in line with modern Bluetooth devices, and it works well. More as I get used to them and play with the software a bit more.

@runner
Was the Tinnitus feature already enabled or did you asked for it to be enabled? It is not listed as a program on mine.

Also the app will not keep a custom program enabled. Keeps defaulting back to Automatic.

I spoke with Phonak support and they offered a couple of iPhone setting changes but has not helped. I have every sound alert turned off which has not made any difference either.
So far the app is pretty much worthless.

It is not enabled by default. It must be enabled. Even when enabled, it isn’t listed anywhere in the app. You can’t turn it on and off at will, unless you have Target 7.1 software and a wireless link.

Any time another device makes a notification, it will switch to automatic. That’s a very well documented “feature” of the devices.

I find the app quite useful.

@runner
Thanks for the response.
So did Costco enable it?

I understand about the notifications switching the EasyLine app back to automatic so I have all known notifications switched off and it still goes back to auto. Not very user friendly and I understand this has been a problem with the my Phonak app as well for quite some time.
I can’t believe they have not fixed it .

Wondering if somebody who has a KS10 could comment on this: Are the KS10 compatible with the MyPhonak app? Is there still a notable difference between MyPhonak app and EasyLine?
KS9 became compatible with MyPhonak app after a major firmware upgrade and there was a notable difference between EasyLine and MyPhonak at the time. Thanks.

I can’t imagine they wouldn’t be!
I got KS9s in Feb, and was only told about the MyPhonak app. I found the EasyLine app so loaded it, and the fitter said to remove it. Got the impression that MyPhonak is the way forward.
Is there something EasyLine does/did better than MyPhonak? (I get my KS10s later today!)
Thanks!

MyPhonak app had lots more capabilities than EasyLine with KS9 but I’ve heard several members mention EasyLine with KS10 so wanted to clarify. I’ve found somtimes fitters will recommend the simpler app for less confusion.

The KS10’s use the Easy Line app, not MyPhonak. Although the Easy Line app is slightly less colorful than the MyPhonak app, it does the exact same things as it did with the KS9’s.

I got the KS 9’s last month and the wind noise is the worst of any of the three hearing aids I have owned. The case on the 10 looks similar to the 9.

I am also getting constant static on phone calls of my new Samsung 5G phone. Is anyone else having static problems?

Can you clarify? At least initially there was a lot of difference between EasyLine app and MyPhonak.
Did they upgrade the EasyLine app? Have you tried the MyPhonak app on the KS10s? It works fine on the KS9s.

Now the only difference is the slightly more muted look of the colors of the app. More grays than greens. The KS10’s will not connect to the MyPhonak app.

Thanks! Interesting…

Yup. Wind noise is the only complaint I have about my KS9s, and I’m with you in seeing the case for the KS10s and thinking they won’t be any better in that department.

My KS9s will be 2 years old this September, and I think I will try the KS10s. After all, if they help my hearing even by a whisper and aren’t any worse with wind noise (and how could they be?) they’d be worth it. However, I really love my KS9s and just use headbands on windy days. Part of what I love is the KS9s are so small and lightweight that sometimes around the house when it’s quiet, I’m feeling for the receiver wire to assure myself they’re there. That makes me have reservations about the larger rechargeables, but I am going to try the KS10s while they’re available, probably about this time next year or even a little later.

I picked up my KS10s today. They use both regular Bluetooth and LE Bluetooth. LE Bluetooth is used by the app, Easyline Remote. It connects to both hearing aids. Standard Bluetooth is for streaming. The right hearing aid pairs with the phone and then it streams to the left hearing aid. Doesn’t just stream the audio it also streams all of the system sounds. I had to turn off the keyboard clicks.

Unlike my KS8s, they don’t appear on my iPhone under Settings > Accessibility>Hearing Devices. Both Bluetooth pairings, LE and regular appear under Settings>Bluetooth.

My hearing aid fitter described them as being much more aggressive than my KS8s. I need to go back in tomorrow for some adjustments.

That was my reply when @MDB asked about KS10’s being compatible with the MyPhonak app. Shows you what I know!!! EasyLine is baaaaaaaaaaack for KS10s – and it looks much like MyPhonak (as of today).
I guess Phonak is trying to differentiate its products from Costco-labeled ones or vice versa???

I had one Custom program added. Of course you can create your own on the fly with the Easy Line app but I like being able to switch to my favorite Custom app just by press an HA volume button for 2 seconds.

Autosense 4.0 does fine for almost any situation except one that I encounter regularly. I drive a 3/4 ton diesel pickup that I pull a 35 ft trailer with. The cab noise from traffic, engine noise and wind is very uncomfortable. Working with a smartphone while driving is risky.

I worked with the fitter to +Add a “Custom” program. We set Windnoise manager to Max 20, Dynamic Noise to Max 20, Microphone Directionality to 12. Now if I give a 2 sec press HAs switch from Autosense, I hear a beep, and “Custom 1” (I named it Extreme Noise) kicks in almost as good as my old Bose Noise cancelling headphones. 2 taps and I’m back to Auto. KS10 does a great job creating comfort for me.

Drbob, I am in the same situation as you. but with P70RTs (Phonak).

I asked Phonak (France) for an explanation.

Here is their answer:
Phonak hearing aids are compatible with Android and IOS directly through the unrestricted Bluetooth connection.

A single connection to classic Bluetooth (D-Phonak hearing aid) is quite normal.

On the other hand LE_G phonak means a Low Energy connection which absolutely does not allow Bluetooth audio listening, but simply allows you to “control your left device via the myPhonak application for example”

If you are not using myPhonak, you can “delete / forget” LE_G phonak "without losing the classic Bluetooth connection.

But my problem is that MyPhonak only connects to a single channel so it can adjust left and right the same.
I will ask my HA if this is voluntary on his part

What’s the battery size?. I’m guessing 312

KS10 are rechargeables. Hence no standard battery size.
