any update @Lou82 we are waiting for you , i hope for you good days .
I went for my one year evaluation today.
Tone exam. My audi reiterated that i am within normal range.
Speech in quite both single words and sentences i scored 93% correct.
The only thing my audi acknowledged i am still struggling with is speech in noise. I only scored about 45% correct. I told my audi this is what i experience in the real world. I do well in quite, but the slightest background noise begins to give me trouble. My audi said speech in noise is tricky and everybody responds to it differently.
Overall my audi is happy and said she considers me a successful implantee. I go back in 6 months.
What were some of your speech in noise scores at your 1 year mark?
Good to hear back from you.
93% is doing real good.
I have two implants now. Have never been tested in noise, might ask. My word and sentence understanding for each side was around 80% about a month ago. Seems it is getting much better since then.
Curious to hear others in noise scores.
Welcome back @Lou82 its great to hear from you again. My speech in noise at 15 months (3months late due to Covid) was 2.7 db. With the speech in noise the lower the score the better.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I will be having this conversation with my surgeon in a few weeks, and he and his team have the final say. The audiologist thinks I am most likely to get a MED-EL implant and, from what I have read, their Rondo seems more successful at staying attached.
Whoops, I didn’t realize I was responding to an older post. Glad to hear of your progress. That is encouraging to me. Did you finally have success with the Kanso, or did you have to go with the over the ear processor?
I had to stay with the N7. Thanks
In the evening after a shower I put the Kanso 2 on my first implant, right side. It has a #5 magnet and holds well. That implant was October 1st, 2020, 5-6 months ago. I have gotten accustomed to the N7 processors, they are actually pretty nice. The Kanso 2 is like I am not wearing anything. It’s almost scary about losing it. When I do wear it out and about, I plan to use a security device just in case.
Do you have a Kanso 2 with a #5 magnet to try now and then? I hope it will stick in time. We both sure wanted to wear the off the ear processors.
@pathurley the profile plus 6 series, is the MRI safe series. To get the 6 series safe for MRI they had to weaken the magnet strength. This is why a lot of recipients are struggling to get the K2 magnets to adhere, some even struggle to get the N7 magnet to adhere.
