I have a cochlear implant in one ear and a hearing aid in the other. What precautions should I take at the gun range?
This is not backed up by books but I have not had to use any noise protection with cochlear implants, bilateral. I have shot rifles, pistols and been around loud noise with no issues from this noise.
The hair cells that transmit sound to the cochlea nerve are not part of the CI process. Your hearing aids ear does need noise protection for sure.
