Cochlear BAHA

One of my friends has a Cochlear BAHA in one ear, and a standard UK NHS Phonak in the other.

I’m not sure how the BAHA works. She works in a pub and occasionally she gets what sounds like electronic interference in the BAHA ear. She suspects it’s from a WiFi booster?

Any ideas?

Could be anything Peter… But, the compressors on fridges are notorious for interfering with WiFi/Router’s, they omit a signal, and if they are in close proximity to the actual Router, they can wreak havoc with this, I know this from personal experience, I had to move a Router , approximately 12 feet away from the fridge, this solved the issue! So in theory, if the problem is intermittent, it might be the fridge compressors that are interfering with a BAHA, there are usually a few fridges behind any bar’s, moving in close to one might solve the issue either way? To my way of thinking, if it was a good WiFi signal, then it would be a constant issue? Cheers Kev :upside_down_face:

The Cochlear Baha works similarly to the CI implants, Bluetooth wise. Is that what she is talking about, Bluetooth? Notifications???

These devices are similar to hearing aids as well, Bluetooth wise. So your knowledge can be used about that.

If something is interrupting the processor from the bone conductor that is different.

Or a T- Coil?

The processor itself and the bone conductor are pretty much bullet proof. My guess is it’s something else
