Cleaning Earmolds + Batteries

Hello,

What is the best way to clean the acrylic earmolds and tubes? My tubes are glued to the earmold.
Also, how to dry them as fast as possible? I don’t have a hair dryer although my curly hair wouldn’t mind having one. :DDD

My second question is regarding batteries. In the user guide of Naída Marvel, the kind of batteries mentioned are zinc air, size 13, color marking on package orange.
Do the brand or where the batteries were made matter? Or just the size?
Because the batteries made in China are cheaper than the ones made in the UK or Germany.

UPDATE: I thought the whole package should be in orange color but I was wrong, only it’s only the label.

13

The color is an easy to remember code for the size. They are, in effect, the same. 13 = orange.

So the ones made in China which are cheaper would work as well!?

Maybe don’t last as long but yeah? I’ve not used them. But some folks seem to like particular brands. But any port in a storm. ( I don’t know if you’ll understand that idiom. Use what you can to get through a situation.)

I have never knowingly used Chinese Zinc Air batteries WH… China is probably the top manufacturer of Lithium Ion batteries in the world, so they should be fine? China makes their own home brew hearing aids, so they probably have around 100 million hearing aid users (potentially) a high percentage might use Zinc Air, so it’s probably safe to say they have been tried & tested… Cheers Kev

As a photographer I used to use a pencil eraser to clean battery terminals. I just had to remember to remove the dust after it was done.

My Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R’s have rechargeable batteries. I’m sending my hearing aids away this month to have them checked by Phonak. My guarantee period is about up.

I’ll be deaf until they return. I do have older hearing aids by Phonak (about 5 or so years old. My hearing instrument specialist may be able to resurrect them as spares. I hope so. His setup on the Paradise hearing aids is so much better than before. He has never provided me with hearing aids. I’m very grateful for his skill, and the work he does. (Those “spare” hearing aids were setup by the audi who provided my Paradise hearing aids; he never set those up so I could hear.)

Best way to clean tubes in acrylic ear molds: I use plastic dental brushes from CVS. They come in several useful diameters to accommodate different width vents, my 4mm+ diameter vents fit the medium size. If you have CVS in your country:

I hope your hearing specialist will do a good job!

Hmmm, hope your hearing aids will not be away for a long time!
This was why I thought of buying another pair of hearing aids and keep them as a spare!
I can’t be out and about without my hearing aids for a week or more. And the old ones are not fit for my hearing.

“CVS.com® is not available to customers or patients who are located outside of the United States or U.S. territories. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

I got this when I tried to check the website. I will look it up on other sites.
Thank you so much! :))

The place to look for interdental brushes are at the dental clinics. It can be expensive. You can try to find it at your local pharmacy shop or at Watson (not sure you have the particular type of shop in your country). You can use roll up tissue to clean the moisture in the hearing tube. I used roll up cigarette paper (harder & more absorbent). A rubber blower is good for dust and moisture cleaning.
As for HA batteries, you can try & compare the Chinese versus EU. I have tried the Chinese and find not much different as compared to Rayovac or Vataa. Only different is price.

“Local Battery” has some good deals on batteries.

I use and have really good luck with the Batteries (13’s) from COSTCO. I wear the Phonak Cros. (Right ear bad, Left ear is the driver) The batteries last about a week. I replace them on Monday’s. I alternate the batteries nightly for the next day. ( The battery that was in the LEFT HA goes into the RIGHT HA. I do this every night to be be ready for the next day. This makes the batteries last longer. There are cleaning kits on AMAZON. Also use a soft toothbrush to clean the wax off the ear molds. HTH. Hearing loss is so personal. Everyone is similar but different.
