Just discovered Chat option on new forum platform. I would assume this is “live” messaging, but it seems to be an option for anybody I click on and I’d think it should be an option only when people are active on the forum? If somebody can tell me how it works or direct me to a source I’d appreciate.

It was a little confusing getting started, which buttons to push, ect.
It will get easier with a little practice.

I wonder if attachments will be available on the new chat system? Or I missed how to do it.

When I’m typing I can see a way to link and also a way to upload a file. I don’t see any advantage to using this vs the existing message system.

I can’t find a way to browse channels. It just says I haven’t joined any channels yet. Any clues?

Nope. I see it keeps the 20 character requirement. It’s pointless in my opinion.
Don’t forget the ol’ repeat character method. Type a bunch of the same character and it will truncate down to looking like just 3.
This is 20 typed asterisks → ********************
See if it still does.
I see the chat has dm’s as well. Isn’t that just private messages? So yes, why bother.

I was hoping it might have some redeeming value and avoid the 20 character minimum. Nope was in response to Whitehat’s question about channels.
I got an email that you’d sent me something, but I don’t see it when the chat box opens, either under channels or dms.
You are right, until we can see some channels, a waste of time. Our culture here isn’t oriented that way as well.

I was trying to send a chat message that might open the door for you to get in it and look around.
Didn’t work out.
The chat ain’t working for me either.
