Can't hear Burglar alarm

Our alarm system has a loud horn that wakes my wife up in our bedroom. However, I can’t hear it sleeping. I’ve tried a loud piezo buzzer over the bed, but it doesn’t even cause me to stir. I sleep like I’m dead…

Looking for ideas for putting some kind of noise maker in the bedroom that would be loud enough to wake me, but not so loud as to give my wife a heart attack if it goes off. Either DC or 110v ac devices are fine. (Light flashers have no effect on me.)

I have a sonic alert alarm clock with a bed shaker that would probably work okay, but I haven’t been able to find anything like that that I can wire up manually to work with my alarm.

I’m a handy guy, but I don’t think outside of the box real well. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Cheapest alternative is cute. Vets recommend Yorkie or Maltese type of dog. Gotta keep bedroom door partially open.

Try Harriscommunication.com for many hard of hearing solutions I have same problem but rely on my spouse a lot.

A bright strobe light hooked into the alarm system should do the trick or a vibrating pad hooked into the alarm and put under your side of the mattress would also work.

Depends on the dog. Our Norwich and Cairn terriers would lick a burglar to death. They are, however, excellent alarm clocks at 5 AM, even on holidays.
