Can a hearing aid hurt your hearing?

Hey
I’ve been to an audiologist today who suggested i change my Phonak Audeo to a Phonak Naida. NAida has a very powerful receiver compared to Audeo . I tested it and I can admit I do like how I hear with it, louder than Audeo…however I am worried that the mega powerful receiver might be too much for my hearing loss ( which is considered Medium while Naida si for “severe” loss ) and might hurt my hearing longer term…is this a baseless fear?
And if anyone has experience with both these aids and can advise, welcome!

Thanks!

Yes, you need not worry about this, correctly fitted HAs will not allow the HAs to amplify above the MPO (maximum power output) if you feel it’s to loud just tell your audiologist, and they’ll “tone” them down for you.

Note that the only way the clinician can really know is with real ear measures.

That said, first fits tend to be fairly conservative.
