How do I get this to work with out the laptop

You dont have to have anything connected to the laptop connector (unless you need it for power, but my memory says no.) I had this setup with Resound hearing aids and phone clip, and later with Phonak Belong hearing aids and Compilot II. Worked well.
By the way, my office phone had a headset port so i didnt have to tap into the phone handset. But, make sure the cable you use is the exact cable for your exact office phone model. It matters!
