Buzz at impact volume

Hearing aid people saying nothing wrong with unit but goes away when turned down, my left ear is worse than my right ear and left is where it’s happening. This is prescription hearing aids and not top of the line but fit snug and not set to maximum I don’t believe. Just want to know that higher quality hearing aid would eliminate this or is it the way it is?

Your question to the group I’m not sure I understand what you are asking, George2. Your audio group is telling you that nothing is wrong with your hearing aid settings, as they are set to the prescription given by your doctor. Is this correct? If so, tell your doctor so they can adjust your prescription to a slightly higher setting for you. But understand they do not want to do any more damaging to your ears with more hearing loss. As for a sung fit yep, the area around will open more overtime and begin to loosen up. (it’s new) so there is adjustments. NO, I wear a Ponto 5 and for me there are 4-setting I make with my cellphone General is normal hearing while walking and if someone calls my name I should hear them on a street. But if the traffic noise and sound are too much, I can adjust my iPhone Icon to “Speach & Noise” grate when in a coffee shop with interfering noises. Then I have MUSIC, when helps me to hear high and low sounds. Then in a large meeting room I have Remote Mic. Where I ask the specker to wear a mic. while talking and I can hear what they are talking about from the back of the room or during college class with a low talking professor. There are adjustments YES and even with these helpful settings I can adjust even more with each by raising the sound hearing levels in each of the four.

So you don’t think the pickup circuitry in the hearing aid would not make a difference no matter what kind or how much you spend?

When you say adjust prescription are you talking about ear inserts and maybe volume adjustment on the phone cause already done I just think my buzzing hearing aid is max out per prescription it just gives me a blown speaker sound on impact volume you know like when you yell something and I’m talking about me yelling something that’s why I’m thinking a better hearing aid might not do this but nobody is saying this.

You probably have a bad receiver (speaker). They’re easy and cheap to replace. That would be the first thing I’d have my hearing care provider replace for me. It’ll happen as you said, low volume it may work OK, but on louder volume, it reaches the saturation point and starts buzzing. If it didn’t do it before but now does it, it’s likely that the receiver goes bad. This happens often, especially if your receiver size is smaller than it should be for the amplification you need.

What you describe could be the “noise floor” of the aids which you might hear if you have some part of your hearing that is near normal. But, you are saying the hearing aids are maxxed out so could it be that these hearing aids are louder than in the past so your ears are getting sound they haven’t gotten in a long time? It might be that it’s your ears that are the blown speaker!

It happened to me on my first hearing aid. High pitched sounds were fuzzy and I just thought that is the way it is with hearing aids. After about 6 months high tones were clear.

Thanks a lot I will start there!

George 2, If I’m understanding you correctly, you went to your doctor and he wrote notes to the Audiologist, who in turn plugged a wire into your hearing aid and setup a program in the hearing aid to match your hearing needs.
But you’re saying that you are hearing a BUZZING sound like when a car specker is broken and you get the crazy static background sound when someone is talking, and that makes it hard for you to hear? Is this about, right? If so, you need to let your Audiologist know and they can inspect and check the internal specker. You need to let them know as most have a time limit for adjustments and waiting too long can bring about another charge plus repairs.

No programming no background noise if I yell a certain pitch at a high volume I get a buzz in my worse ear because the volume needs to be louder in that one naturally then I get a buzz like a blown speaker.

Maybe let someone else listen to it and see if it sounds to them like a blown speaker.

I’m trying to think about your issue outside the “NORMAL” box and the way things work. Do you have a wire connected to your hearing aids and attached with a clip to your shirt?
I’m asking this as I was outside working with some tree trimmers. I wear a fishing line attached to my Ponto and the other end attached to my shirt cooler. When I had my head back and yelled to the man up on the tree. I Got a loud BUZZING sound which I call FEEDBACK. as the wire was pulling on the Ponto (A BAHA hearing aid) on the side of my head.

Just, a thought on my part as to what “MAYBE” causing a buzzing sound.

I have Phonak Aids and Oticon Aids.

I get a buzz exactly like you say with my Oticon Aids but not with my Phonak Aids.

Maybe the problem is related to a specific device or its settings? OR this can also be the result of improper fit or adjustment of the device.
Have you seen a hearing aid specialist? They can analyze your hearing status and the settings and fit of your hearing aids to identify and correct the cause of the problem.
Or, it may be worth considering alternative, higher quality hearing aid models that may better suit your needs and eliminate your ear pain problem.
