Buyhear.com out of business?

I buy many things online, one just needs to be careful. I would call this bad luck with BuyHear. I went to two audi clinics and was very disappointed in the service and prices offered. On recommendations here, I called Hearing Revolution and they were excellent, referred me to a third audi who was like the first two in terms of service, though the price through Hearing Revolution was good, Oticon OPN 1 for $3700 instead of the $8000 quoted by audi #2. When I called Hearing Revolution to cancel the order, they were very concerned about the poor service, and tried hard to find another solution. I would still recommend them and use them in the future.

However I had made an appointment with Costco, and was very lucky to get an exceptional person in the HIS who tested me, and has now fitted me. I have a long running thread with all the ups and downs of my HA journey posted here.

The information and assistance of the people here on Hearing Tracker is “priceless” as the saying goes. Good luck getting your hearing aids! Keep us updated on how it goes.

Buyhear.com’s website is “permanently closed.” Interestingly, they say “Opening Soon” and have a place for one to enter an email to get notified when they open.

As a first time hearing aid user, I bought from BuyHear in August 2017, it took a month to get my hearing aids, but I have been ecstatic at how well they work. This weekend my right ear Phonak Audio B90 wire broke and I’ve just discovered via this site that BuyHear is out of business. Oddly enough yesterday, October 1, 2018, their webpage appeared to be working, today it is not, but the phone line was permanently busy. Now what do I do? Will a local Phonak dealer work with me to get these repaired?

You could but the same size=length and the same power replacement receiver on EBay and replace them yourself.

Thanks pvc. I believe I’ve found that part you are referring to on Ebay but I can’t see how to remove the old one from the main body of the hearing aid?

Look in the DIY section of this forum,
or look on Utube,
or start a new topic in the DIY category.

Okay thanks for the help. Since I’m new here I don’t know my way around.

Update on my repair since I no longer have support from the defunct BuyHear: I fixed my hearing aid, I ended up ordering the part from the UK from HearingDirect.com (arrived in 3 days with express shipping) and finding a how-to video on YouTube. I am so delighted to get this fixed on my own!

you need removal tool also
https://www.hearingdirect.com/us/phonak-removal-tool.html

It came with a tiny pin, which promptly flew out of my hand and I lost. I then used the pointed tip of my Exacto knife which worked perfectly.

These are quite easy to change yourself, I buy these receivers for 40.00 a pair on ebay from a canadian vendor, work fine

Thanks, another poster said the same thing and i ended up buying one from the UK and got my hearing aid fixed yesterday. Hurrah!

hi. i have somewhat similar experience. i’ve returned my devices, got confirmation they were received by BuyHear but they never refunded me. $3500!
exactly same experience eith phones and emails.
i was thinking to sue the company but the company doesn’t exist anymore. have to follow the individual owners. but to do so and be able to follow up the process one need to be in that state and town. so they succeeded with their fraud. apparently they follow the example of our political leadership.

lol…

Have you contacted your credit card company? They may be of help on this.

Some do. I get 5K every three years.

I assume you mean exorbitant amounts as insurance companies are businesses and businesses don’t stay in business if they don’t make money.

Some don’t, $330 copay (per aid) $660 total for Chinese junk.

Yes I know. It’s unfortunate. Normally the only really good ones are large group plans which leave the individual up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Sorry.
