I am wearing Signia Pure RICs now and am ready for a new pair. I wear full shell vented molds. I am open to BTEs if the sound is better. I’ve read a few good reviews. I think BTEs are a little larger, but that is not important. I haven’t seen a post on that question for a while. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. --Steve
I have heard @Um_bongo say BTE delivers richer bass tones.
For me, there is no difference in bass or otherwise. I wear RIC and BTE. Actually the BTE I wear has a more powerful receiver (being a superpower aid), but there is no difference, at least, to me.
correct me if I am wrong … Signia Pure RICs is a BTE ???
It’s a Receiver in the Canal hearing aid rather then a standard Behind The Ear hearing aid.
A BTE Aid has the receiver in the actual Aid rather then the canal.
I have been wearing bte aids for quite a while now so I really couldn’t comment on whether they sound better only you could make that decision. As far as being bigger, they’re certainly a lot smaller then they used to be. And I’m amazed how much people don’t notice them
I wear Signia Pure and it is RIC. I’m not sure if they make a BTE version.

Currently wearing Signia Pure RIC. I have worn BTE hearing aids since 1980. I honestly can not tell any difference in the sound quality. I’m currently working with the VA on another set, and it seems like it will be battery powered, BTE Phonak! I’m not sure why this choice is being made other than he said he thinks I Iwould benefit from some of the Roger products. I am not convinced that I will appreciate the rechargeable version, as I stream heavily. Just my .02 worth.

Love my Roger On mic. I really do.

I never hear about the Roger Pen anymore…Is it not a thing anymore
Dan
I think you can buy them used?

Just a recommendation: Try before you buy…Borrow a set and try them out and see if you can stand the discomfort when wearing sun glasses, reading glasses, or a head cap. Anything that meets the top of your ears is going to conflict with
these ote hearing devices. Even a head set for listening to music is uncomfortable with ote devices. A word to the wise. <smile- Try hats, glasses and head sets before investing in them.
Really? I have been using hearing aids for over 40 years. I’ve never had a conflict with hat or cap. I wear glasses (can’t see a darned thing without them). I guess it’s because when I started wearing hearing aids, there were no options. All hearing aids were Behind the Ear, and they were huge compared to todays tiny models. I sure would love to hear from others on this, as I just don’t see it…
Maybe my aids were too big…Was so annoying 2 years ago, whenever putting on glasses for outside or reading, it would knock the aid out of place off the top of my ear…and putting on a
cap always knocked them off. I do hope others don’t have that problem…still, it doesn’t harm to try first before buying. So happy to hear that you never had any problem in all those 40 years…
I just thought, maybe it’s the shape of one’s ears…some ears are large and
easily cup the ear device in place.
Wearing a face mask (for Covid protection) as well as hearing aids and glasses can be a trial too. There are ways to wear a mask that don’t involve ear loops, but they are all a bit of a faff.
I’ve said it before. I ran into a problem with not enough space behind my ears which caused pain. Bte aids are much thinner now so that’s helped immensely. But add a mask and glasses and it becomes pretty cluttered
Hi, putting aside the problems with wearing hearing aids with glasses, masks, hats, caps, etc
how do BTE aids compare to RIC aids on their ability to improve hearability for various levels (mild, moderate, severe) of deafness?
I tried the Audeo M50 and hated them. I found the sound of the BTE to be more full.
This is just my opinion and may not be the cause for everyone.
I had ear moulds on both sets.
