This simultaneous connection of the TV connector and BT sounds nice but the TV connector gets muted for about 10 seconds every time my phone chimes when a message comes in…
No static for me, but once in a while, the signal is just really choppy. I chalked that up to the cell phone tower. In my area, they were transitioning from 4G to 5G, and some days I couldn’t make a call if my life depended on it.
Well, I’d just use the old-fashioned landline we have at home, put my aids into Acoustic Phone and proceed (cusswords added).
I don’t think Phonak will introduce batteries. Basically with paradises they started the separation, and they don’t have same hardware capabilities, so if they’d keep doing that, that means development of basically two different aids. And that development isn’t cheap, and yet, I don’t think there would be many buyers of zinc-air battery powered aids at the same price (to cover development) unless they have same tech abilites as li-ion battery ones.
I kinda hope that Unitron will stay with / keep batteries… We’ll see how it goes. But I think many days of usage without changing batteries are sadly behind us. So I plan to stick to my Paradises as long as they work.
Agree with your prediction 100%. It’s time I face that reality, cuz given that my rechargeable Lumity Life aids give me just 13 hrs MAX of use per day, I’m simply going to have to face a new reality: having TWO pairs of induction-charged aids. Maybe they can share the same charging station and I’ll save a few $100.
I’m bummed cuz I’m an atypical hearing loss person who absolutely NEEDS aids in my ears every waking minute of the day, And if I ever travel alone, I’ve always kept just ONE in an ear so I could hear a fire alarm or someone banging on the door.
My new reality is like owning an electric car, but having to commute from LA to Las Vegas, stopping halfway to charge up the car for a few hours. VERY annoying and inconvenient.
13 hours seems pretty bad. I’m still waiting for my Lumity Life aids and have P90 Life aids at the moment.
Although I’m not thrilled by the battery life I can still get up to 15 hours out of them with a lot of Bluetooth streaming.
If I’m downgrading a core feature just to go from Autosense 4 to 5, is it really worth it?
I can relate, been doing the 20 minute one-ear thing myself most days because of the Android 12 issue. But EV-HA analogies aren’t what most expect. LA to Vegas is about 275 miles, a trip that about half the EV models in this range list could make without stopping. https://www.caranddriver.com/shopping-advice/g32634624/ev-longest-driving-range/ So in that way perhaps more choices than for HAs. Except EVs make such good sense for so many that they’re in high demand right now. Therefore prospective buyers are frequently waiting from one to three years to get one! In that way the only choice is to wait or do without. Anyway, I wish choice and availability was better for HAs and everything else. I’m on about a one-year waiting list for a new PHEV. The model isn’t ideal but it’s the best suited for my needs. When I get the call I might have to pay above list price, probably won’t get the color I want and might have to pay thousands for options I’d rather not have. Plus, the DIY hardware costs about five times the price of a Noahlink Wireless.
What issue is it?
Yup, I can totally relate. I did comparison of 13 vs R, and I didn’t like tap to answer phone feature, nor I noticed difference in that sensor when walking (but granted, in that point in time I couldn’t stand anything but open domes on both, now that I’m using custom molds, maybe I’d feel the difference). And I keep eye on new features, like that new receiver with auto closing vents only working on R version, and I’ve checked lumia… But at the end of the day, no feature can heal my loss, and no aid can be better than remote microphone for loud/difficult situations, so I happily use my 13 and roger mics. When we were sightseeing, I hung three of them, one per person, and heard them loud and clear, and they were ones not being able to hear me unless I spoke louder
This solution would perfectly work on p30 so a ton of money saved.
So I plan to stick to that solution as long as possible, or if they invent some feature that would radically changed something.
But basically, you have to do decide which inconvenience you pick.
Just occurred to me, there’s something worse than irreplaceable rechargeable batteries in HAs. It’s subscription model where they won’t even work if you didn’t pay your monthly amount.
Oh the horror
I think Oticon might be leader in resolving the battery issue. Theirs is already possible to remove and replace. If they make it possible that we can do it easily, and make small chargers only for them, then that would be great solution actually. Yes, we’d keep having batteries around us, but they’d be rechargeable, so we’d get all perks of higer voltage, but also, we’d get convenience of popping full battery in few seconds
Then I’d be first in the line for such rechargeables!
