It is my understanding that Oticon is still working on auracast firmware update.
Thanks. Looks like for now I’ll probably look for another TV adapter to hook up to my laptop. That appears to be the best option now so that others can also hear the audio. Unless that “easy LE adapter” from Oticon is coming soon. I sent audiologist an email to see if she’s heard anything about it.
It’s been my understanding that Bluetooth Auracast can be accessed one of two ways.
One, with the use of an assistant like the one in the Samsung S23 and S24 phones that can access any unlocked broadcast. Very disappointed that Google didn’t include an assistant in their new Pixel phone.
Two, with a dedicated app that only works with a single device broadcast. Getting a hearing aid for test purposes appears to be a bit of a hurdle.
I’m sure that any iPhone that’s newer than the iPhone 10 will probably also work. I was hoping that public Auracast won’t require anything except wearing your compatible hearing aids. So for example, if I walk into an airport terminal building equipped, with public Auracast, my hearing aids should be able to pick up the audio announcements of boardings without me having to do anything.
I’m hoping the Oticon adapter will be like the TV adapter where others can also hear the audio …
I wear the Starkey Edge AI.
My audiologist told me that another client picked up an Auracast broadcast in an airport wearing the same hearing aids . I do not know which one. She did not say.
I hope that’s the way public Auracast will and should work. The wearer should not have to do anything but listen for the audio. Just like anyone else without a hearing deficit.
I looked at the ConnectClip manual. If you pair it with the aids and your smartphone and run the Zoom app, will that serve your purpose?
BT LE Audio and Auracast do not exist yet in the Apple world, and they haven’t announced if it ever will. They’ll probably succumb, but they seem to act as if BT LE Audio does not exist.
Well I think with Connect clip it will ONLY get audio to my hearing aids, and the others in room with me won’t hear it… What I did do as an experiment is connect my iphone with Zoom audio ONLY and then was able to hear and the others that were connected via laptop in the room with me were connected with Zoom video/audio… problem was there was a terrible echo in my aids and I had to mute my audio on iphone and then I couldn’t participate/talk … so convoluted …
Maybe the new FCC requirement will change it.
You will still need an assistant to find and select the available broadcasts. I still don’t know why Google didn’t include an assistant in their new Pixel phone.
It was in the betas for Android 15. I’d expect it in a future feature-drop. Yes, it’s annoying.
I believe their latest Pixel buds have Auracast.
I read that too. So both new Samsung and Google ear buds have that capability.
However, you will either need a dedicated app or an assistant to use it.
I have a Dell PC and can’t pair the Intent 1 HA and PC directly. To get around this, I use the software AudioRelay on the PC and the phone, enabling me to send the PC audio to the phone, which is then sent to the HA. I think this software only works with Android phones and I have a Pixel 9 Pro. There can be some quality issues (latency etc.) but it’s not too bad. I did try a ConnectClip but didn’t like the latency problems. I think some newer PCs have LE Audio functionality but not mine and I don’t know if the PCs just need a firmware update or if PCs also need additional hardware (other chips etc). I understand Oticon will be releasing a new device (Easy LE Adapter) which might help pairing with older phones and PCs and I may try that when it arrives, depending on the price.
I’m hoping that the “easy LE adapter” will work like the TV adapter, where other people can still hear the audio in addition to it going to the hearing aids…
@LewBob no real need for LE Audio with Phonak as Phonak is full Bluetooth capable and hence will anyway work with the Laptop directly.
Why would you make it complex? I have Teams. Installed on Laptop and Smarphone alike (with same ID). So you can choose to take the call from Phone or Laptop, or even both at the same time. Not sure Zoom does the same @user490 but I would assume so?
And I assume @nedunla your Oticons would connect to your Mobile phone? So issue fixed?
I haven’t read the entire thread but just thought I’d add, even if compatible it doesn’t guarantee a good result. I have a recent Lenovo Legion laptop & the streaming on it is garbage for my Phonak Marvels. These HA worked seemlessly with no issue at all with my previous DELL XPS15 & with my 3-4yr old Motorola E20, but on the Lenovo they break up with choppy audio all the time to the point where I just don’t stream with the laptop any more. I did try some research & troubleshooting but pffft just decided since I’ll be likely updating the HA MAR or so this year that hopefully it will be better with newer aids.
It’s frustrating… Can I ask with your Lenovo Legion laptop when you stream to your hearing aids, are others able to hear the audio as well? That’s what I need …
