The average power consumption is under 100mA, so it should work with most USB ports.
Hi everyone, I have a special request. If any of you have screen captures of the Hearing Aid phone Helper Apps and the Auracast/Bluetooth LE Audio connection process, I would like to have them for a talk I am doing on Auracast and hearing aids. In Particular we are looking for the selection list coming up, the connection vol controls and disconnect on your phone helper app. We need images for each of the Hearing Aids that have successfully connected using the FMA120. I have found this to not have much on the Mfgs pages. Like it does not exist.
Thanks
Question does the resound app allow the option to balance background audio and Auracast audio. I view that as a requirement for safety. Being outside working or in a lot of active and listening situations really needs the ability to blend outside noise into your Auracast stream. If it’s missing from the phone or the HA helper app it’s not a complete solution.
Many phones do have the feature but the helper apps need to include it.
Yes it does. It works like other streaming functions in the app. The phone volume control operates the volume of the stream and the slider in the app adjusts the ambient volume.
Today I noticed I will get stuck at “audio starting” more often when making an external to my organization call thru Microsoft Teams. Internal calls are directly within Teams, but external calls can go to any phone number. Teams will start, and will hear the Teams calling sound, but then it switches over and I loose audio and mic before hearing the telephone ringing. Not every time it seems but was very repeatable today
Thank you for the details. The connection is activated or deactivated when an app starts or stops its audio. If multiple on/off events occur in a short period, the connection and disconnection processes might overlap. This is something we’re aware of, and we’ll work on improving it in future releases.
Suggestion for ReSound/Jabra users who want to use LE Audio for bidirectional audio to/from a computer for Teams calls, etc:
Don’t!
Instead, use Auracast to transmit audio from the computer to the HAs and use your Laptop’s microphone (or webcam microphone) to pick up your own voice.
The HAs can handle Auracast alongside their regular Bluetooth connection to your phone, so you don’t have to worry about connecting/reconnecting your phone and the computer all the time.
Also, the HA microphones aren’t really optimized to pick up your own voice anyways, so using the computer’s microphone might actually lead to better sound quality for those listening to you.
If you are worried about privacy (Auracast is public after all…), just set a password for your Auracast stream.
Unless you want Hands Free with the ability to walk around and still talk when called upon. I want to do this especially when my Zoom window just shows a picture with video off. Even if it is to get a cup of coffee or use the bathroom…
FYI the Hearing Club you tube guy has a video of how to setup this dongle and all of Costco’s hearing aids it’s very good
I followed the Hearing Club’s instructions. I was able to connect with my PC, but it wasn’t visible on my phone app. I disconnected the FlooGoo from the PC. Once I did that, I was able to connect to the phone app again. Did I do something wrong?
That’s the way my Rexton works also, one connection at a time. The Rexton app does still work for changing volume and programs using sound but not bluetooth.
That’s not the way my Jabras work. The Android app shows the Auracast devices available to connect to on the screen. (Note: I have 2 TV streamers and would love to change their names.) See the screenshot. The FMA120 manual isn’t clear how I do this.
Auracast can co-exist with the Bluetooth connection between your phone and the HAs. You don’t have to disconnect/reconnect anything when you switch between Auracast audio and phone audio.
An LE Audio point-to-point connection (for example between FlooGoo and HAs) can not co-exist with the Bluetooth connection between your phone and the HAs. You have to disconnect one connection and then reconnect the other.
Please configure the dongle as follows:
- Set the Audio Mode to ‘Broadcast.’
- Enable ‘Public Broadcast.’
- Do NOT enable ‘Broadcast High-Quality Music.’
- Play some audio to start broadcasting and ensure that ‘FMA120’ is selected as the output audio device in your system sound settings.
- The broadcast name will appear in the app. You can modify the name (Press ENTER when you’ve finished entering the text) as desired; just replug the dongle to apply the changes.
- For encryption, set a ‘Broadcast Key’ first, then enable ‘Encrypt Broadcast,’ and replug the dongle.
It’s to bad the Rexton app does not have an auracast assistant to chose a broadcast and apple doesn’t have one either
One customer reported that, in addition to using their LE Audio-capable hearing aids, they were also able to stream PC audio and voice to their older Kirkland Signature KS10 hearing aids via classic Bluetooth using the FMA120.
The customer mentioned: “The Intel Bluetooth driver updated and those KS10’s wouldn’t do a PC to HAs anymore. The FMA120 fixed that problem.”
Hopefully, this helps others with similar devices.
I have determined a problem and a pattern using my Pixel 7 Pro. I followed Ranson’s instructions to connect my PC with the FlooGoo. In order to connect, I was playing a Youtube video. I would then search for the broadcast using the Resound Smart 3D app as I showed in the screenshot above. Whenever the Youtube video ended, both the Android app and the PC showed the HAs were still connected, but no sound was coming out of the HAs. The only way to get sound again was to perform another search for an Auracast. Once the Floocast was selected again, the sound would start up.
On the other hand, if I stop the Auracast in the Resound app before the video ends, and restart it again after selecting another video, the sound continues. Any adjusting of the volume to zero on the Youtube player interrupts the sound and the search function needs to be performed to find the Floocast again.
This would be minor for listening to a movie or long video, but it’s a pain to watch Youtube videos. I have no idea if it’s the Resound app or the Floocast.
I am also not sure what my firmware version for my Jabra 20s are. There are no options in the app that allow me to see it or show me the information. I assume it’s the way that Costco set them up. I have the app and NOAH system to program the aids myself, but I haven’t found where I can get this information turned on.
That’s it for now.
