Interesting! Signia is going to BT Classic! Maybe Phonak had the right idea. My take is that BT in hearing aids is a lot more complex than we think!
Maybe one of the next Widex hearing aids will also support classic Bluetooth and LEA?
But I don’t understand: are they giving up BT LE audio to go back to the classic BT that we already have? Isn’t that a step backwards?
My take is that this model offers only BT Classic (+telecoil) They have other models that do LE Audio but none currently that offer both.
Well they’ll need BLE which is built into classic Bluetooth chip anyway for the App I would think, but yeah you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s a step backwards, but just that one model and with a major new release coming soon I’m sure they’ll follow what Sonova has done and cover everything, as in Made For All, would make no sense otherwise.
It is a step backwards, don’t let them fool you. They could have done what Phonak did and cover all possible protocols. Instead they went with BT Classic ONLY, with all of its downsides.
The upside is that they can connect now to pretty much anything, as generations of Phonak’s devices could.
Too little too late imho.
