Just thought I’d post my experience of Bluetooth connections between LE Bluetooth and Classic Bluetooth.
I have
Phonak Sky M70 SP - bought myself.
Phonak Naida P70 UP - free issue - NHS.
Oticon Xceed 1 UP - free issue - NHS.
——————————————————————
Phonak seem to have a massive Bluetooth range compared to Oticon.
Oticon Xceed Bluetooth range is quite short.
Phonak M70 easily connect between iPad and iPhone.
Phonak P70 easily connect between iPad, iPhone and laptop. I prefer to turn Bluetooth off, on all devices I’m not using so I don’t get distracted.
Oticon Xceed, I find it’s only really good for connecting to one device. Turning Bluetooth off, on one device, doesn’t allow it to connect to the other device. I find I have to turn the device fully off, for the Xceed to connect to the device I want to use. I just leave it connected to one device now, to save messing around.
Phonak, have an ear infection in your right ear, you can’t use Bluetooth if you need to keep the HA out.
Oticon Xceed, you can choose to stream to left OR right OR both. That’s very useful.
I don’t have experience with oticon. Does xceed connect to android?
I’ve found myphonak app a bit slow to connect.
Phonak bluetooth range is impressive. I can hear phone notifications 20-25 feet away at work with thin walls .It depends on wall thickness.
Oticon Xceed 1 is louder than More 1 in streaming music/voice from iPhone for my hearing loss. Both HA’s connect to iphone easily but one aids at a time. I do not connect HA to computer or ipad. Iphone is the main device for connectivity.
Ditto! I get the notifications on my Phonak Lumity Life aids upstairs when my phone is downstairs - live in a concrete bunker here. Even the phone rings from a different floor, and I can ANSWER it and start talking as I stroll downstairs to actually get the phone, LOL!
This is quite interesting as I can swop between iPhone and iPad by just turning Bluetooth off on the other but if I want to connect to my spare iPhone, it gets super confused.
I take a spare iPhone with me when I travel.
Oticon always connect these days. Phonak never connects on its own since iOS 17.
I’m really thinking about selling my Phonak P30 as I just prefer Oticon over all.
I guess Iphone and phonak are like quarrelsome couples
I bought a Samsung tv and my phonak Up P30s connect flawlessly .
Good news is that I dont need a third device as in the past like tv connect. No input lag issue.
The funny thing is that although my hearing aids can connect to the tv I usually watch tv shows and movies with subtitles and no sounds. I just remove my aids at night and watch tv with subtitles. I got used to watch tv like a charlie chaplin movie.
I realize these observations were from your post in July '23, but having trialed the Oticon Intent last spring, I GONGED it for these same reasons.
I could not get the Intents to stay connected in any reliable way with my Android Samsung Flip-4 phone. Every single day I’d have to go through the rigamarole of pair + connect throughout the day. It was just too unreliable to trust with calls coming in and me never knowing if I’d be streaming unless I went through this yada yada before even answering my phone.
I wondered if it was the Oticon’s LE_audio? But I have LE_R-Precious Pink for my Phonak 312s, and (I hope I don’t jinx it) I NEVER EVER have an issue with BT on my Android phone.
On a different topic: how was the JUNGLE! Hope all that waterproof gear held up and you had the experience of a lifetime!
