Bimodal fitting with N8 and Omnia Hearing Aid

Has anyone been fitted with the Nucleus 8 and the Resound Omnia Hearing aid?

Or the N7 and the new Omnia Hearing aid.

I ask because of the firmware update needed to pair them for streaming.

Thanks for any information on this.

I was told by cochlear support that the n7 is getting the update soon
“. , the Nucleus 7 and the Resound Omnia RIC are not compatible to stream together from your mobile phone. We will be releasing this software to make both of these systems compatible by the end of the year or early next year.”

I am fighting to get the Nucleus 8 sound processor and they kept contradicting themselves…

Thanks, I suspect you will know as quickly as anyone.

Hoped for someone from Australia or Europe somewhere to say they are fitted with bimodal Resound Omnia.

I talked a friend into swapping his Resound One for the Omnia. Feeling a little guilty about it but I know it’s the best thing long term for him.

Consider it s a long term investment!

The Omnia have been solid so far, no problems/complaint here!

@Raudrive
An update to your question.
"We had a meeting with them about a week and a half ago and got a brief overview of the N8. The N8 will be compatible with your ReSound Omnia hearing aid. We will need both their latest programming software, which our clinic isn’t set to receive until December 9th, "

It is coming real soon! the mapping software update will include the omnia. support package…

@Raudrive Rick here in Aus under the Gov pensioner scheme, we are not offered top of the line Resound aids. I started off with the Enzo2 which is an extremely old aid. Then I got Enzo 3D which is another very old aid. We’re never issued with anything above a 5 level of technology.

If we want a newer aid and/or a higher level of technology, we buy it ourselves. This results with me getting what I’m given. The Resound key is what’s being issued now.

My friend who has the Omnia Hearing aid and N7 processor reported back his audiologist has also been told of the bimodal update.

So you were correct and my friend is excited about the update.

Not sure if others have already received the update for the Omnia aids at this time.

My friend mentioned earlier is scheduled to get the update Wednesday, December 22. He’s pretty excited about it.

My audiologist said that they tried to link a resound hearing aid with cochlear sound processor for one patient but the entire cochlear custom sound pro 7.0 software crashed… :joy:

Hopefully this issue gets resolved quickly.
He will find out on Wednesday.

Just got with him and asked how the Omnia aid is doing. He said it’s doing good.

He has an audiologist appointment Wednesday to get the Cochlear/Resound Omnia update. He is pretty excited about that.

Any update on your friend yet?

He got the new updates for the N7 and Resound Omnia aid. It turned into a cluster because the fitter didn’t have all the needed updates. She made phone calls and found another audiologist that did have the updates.
So, after running around town he got all the updates.

He said phone calls are great. The Omnia aid is not any better than the Resound One at that time. He even asked about going back to the Resound One.

He is a CI candidate for the aided ear and might go that direction???

glad it is fully resolved after the update, this is challenging because it depends on software update that just released… i am still waiting to hear back from them,

I really don’t think it is wise to back to an old platform just because of software that can be updated to fix the issue it is only a temporary setback and you will have the same problem with old hearing aid platform as well

Here the catch: if you don’t have the update\d resound fitter software and you are on custom sound pro 7.0. and custom sound pro 7.0 will crash and won’t be able to pair at all regardless of what kind of hearing aid platform you have… per my audiologist…

Technical info: the library dependancy mismatch between resound and cochlear software caused the crash because the 2 version of the software are different

regard CI for his aided ear, that totally up to him…
