Best ways to clean hearing aid receivers/molds

What are the best ways you have found to clean your earmolds or receivers? Using the little brush tends to just move around the wax, similar when using a small microfiber cloth(as recommended). I’ve had to change my wax filters enough to where I’ve used up the cerushield disk already and I received my hearing aids in December. I’m not sure if it’s because I have a silicone tip that make it’s harder to clean? When I get my new earmolds they will be made from silicone so I’d want to know what are the best ways to clean it. It definitely seems like the silicone has discolored a lot but my earmolds will be pink/purple so hopefully that hides the discoloration.

I use a small brush, even a toothbrush to clean my molds without a problem. And molds tend to discolor over time.

Besides the classic brush tools for hearing aids, I like Kim Tech wipes. It captures cerumen so it doesn’t just mush around as you wipe. They are made to be gentle with the subject of your cleaning. I keep one in my charging case, and use it until I decide a fresh, clean one is in order. I also have a cleaning fluid called “audiologist’s choice” which I apply to a wipe and use quite sparingly. Liquid is not a friend to your receiver.) It takes cerumen off pretty well. My molds accumulate it in spite of daily cleaning.

I suppose ear doctors will violently disagree, but I carefully clean my ears ~1/week using the handle of fingernail clippers. The handle is smoothly-rounded and it has a handy hook on the end. It gets the wax out, especially right after a shower when I’ve sprayed water and a bit of soap in my ears.

The idea was even supported in a NY Times article:

On my HA I wipe my moulds with isopropyl wipes. I use pipe cleaners to clean inside the vent and tube.
On my CI I use a soft brush to clean all contact points. Also wipe my processor with isopropyl wipes.
I put both devices into my breeze dry box every night without fail.

I thought I had been told it was not recommended to use alcohol when cleaning hearing aids or molds, as it might cause damage.

If you can separate the speaker from the mold, soap and warm water will get the mold sparkling clean.

I still use a brush/pic tool provided by my audi for scraping and cleaning the outside of the mold after drying overnight.
