Apologies if this has been discussed before. I searched but couldn’t find anything. I still haven’t gotten new hearing aids with rechargeable batteries, so am still needing my old 312 disposible batteries. Since the new law went into effect, the Costco batteries are a nightmare to get into the packages. Does anyone have a recommendation for a source for batteries that, while still staying in compliance with the new law, have easier packaging to get into? And also are decent batteries that last a reasonable amount of time? Thanks!
Editing to say I did just now find this post: "Child Resistant" hearing aid batteries — issues? - #141 by Reed
Lots in that post. I guess I am wondering if all the packaging is the same, requiring hefty scissors to get into them or if some manufacturer has found a better method to satisfy the law and make it easier for the consumer.
I use the Costco 312s. I just twist the thing a few times and it can easily be pried apart. No scissors and certainly no box cutters. They are not child resistant for a bright child.
I am having an issue just because I am nearly completely blind. It would be nice to have a child proof packaging that doesn’t involve having to use scissors to cut into the packaging. It sounds like all of the manufacturers are using this same method, so I will step up my plans to get rechargeable hearing aids.
New battery pack instant removal trick. No cutting.
Remove the paper packaging. Simply use a lighter for a second on the bottom side of the plastic. The 1 second of heat softens the plastic instantly and with a slight pull separates the batteries from the packaging
Of course remember to store each individual battery separately. Don’t let them touch or the battery will go dead.
