Hi. I’m considering going to audiologist to get 1.1 firmware for INTENT - BUT question: I know Oticon doesn’t support Auracast yet, but when they do - will it be a firmware update? reason is that it costs me about $150 every time I go to audiologist for firmware updates, and might consider waiting, if the Auracast will be another firmware update… Second: anyone know anything about the “easy LE adapter” that Oticon is supposedly working on? I called Oticon and they said to “call audiologist” and audiologist said " call Oticon" … just wondering what the adapter will do. - TIA
I have the INTENT1 aids with 1.1.0 and it is much better connectivity wise. I noticed the better connectivity with my connect clip and Samsung S23 phone. What I am hoping for is for the Easy dongle to be released this year. My phone supports auracast but my INTENT1 aids ony supports le audio. From what little that I have heard from the Oticon rep for my local VA clinic says that the aids will support auracast. I am sure that is going to require firmware updates, and companion app update. At least on my phone using auracast requires a pairing with a password like secure Wi-Fi.
Thanks. Did you hear anything about what the easy dongle will actually do?
What I understand is that the dongle updates devices that now can’t stream le audio to being able to do so. The problem is that i don’t understand just how it will be done. I am sure an app is needed. But is that app companion or some other app. And will that app install on some of the devices that I use.
Thanks… that’s what this FMA120 (FlooGoo is company) dongle is supposed to do… I bought it ($47) and have been trying to get it to work… their support has been very patient and helpful… we determined that I need 1.1 firmware for INTENTs for it to work… sounds like it’s the same idea (allowing LE audio to stream from laptop to aids - even though my laptop does NOT support LE audio) … their support said that other Oticon INTENT users with 1.1 have been successful in getting it to work… but I can’t verify that since I don’t have 1.1 yet…
Consider buying a Noahlink Wireless and doing the firmware updates yourself. It will be cheaper in the long run versus $150 per update from your audiologist.
I’ve thought about this… do you need a license or anything or just purchase the NOAHlink ? I see there’s a wireless 2 now? Assume I would need the 2?
No license needed for the Noahlink Wireless programming device.
You can use the cheaper Noahlink Wireless MK1 or Noahlink Wireless 2. Both are doing the same thing.
and you need also the latest version of Oticon Genie2 fitting software.
You can ask here for the software
Unless someone knows otherwise, the first gen and second gen Noahlink Wireless are essentially the same but for USB C instead of USB mini B. You can use adapters or adapting cables as needed. Get what is cheapest.
There’s not a license cost for Noahlink Wireless or Genie 2 software. You’ll have to get a link from the DIY folks on here for Genie 2 and then install it and then update it to the latest version. You may also need to update the Noahlink Wireless to the latest firmware. From there Genie has an instrument update tool that takes a few minutes to run. Once you’ve got this working future updates will be less involved but often require updating Genie 2.
