I have been impressed with a trial of the Marvel M90 (with titanium moulds which has made a huge difference) so I have decided to order them.
The aids that I have been trialling have a 312 battery. (I don’t want a rechargeable aid.) I was wondering if there was any advantage to the model with a 13 battery, other than longer battery life and having a T Coil (that I will never use.)
For example, does the model with the 13 battery because of its bigger size have a larger/better bluetooth antenna giving it slightly better range - or room for slightly better mics, etc.
Also I asked my audi if there was any advantage to the larger size 13 and she said "no."The inputs and the guts are the same between the 312, 13 and rechargeable. The only advantage is the battery life for the 13 vs the 312. The disadvantage, IMHO, is the 13 is a larger HA.
The size of a hearing aid can be different for different people.
Dexterity is one reason.
Tiny aids and big hands can be an issue too.
Thankfully we have many hearing aid choices.
You can get the 312 with telecoil now. That’s what I have. Though I am thinking that for long term I will ask to switch to the size 13. I wouldn’t mind a slightly bigger aid and I really like the idea of longer battery life.
The specs have the length of the M90-13T as being 2.2 mm longer than the 312 version, and the thickness as being 1 mm thicker. 1 mm is slightly over half as large as 1/16th of an inch. It’s not much.
Personally getting half again as long a battery life for essentially the same cost sounds like a better deal to me than getting a mm less thickness behind my ear. But, of course, other folks might have different priorities.
I’d like opn3 and rite and use 675. This pack vould be the greatest. Yeah the battery’s house has a little bigger than 312 at the end. But I don’t care this.
I have the M90-13 and really like them. I trialed the M90-R and I didn’t notice the difference in size. I have been getting 80 hours of use with the 13 batteries which included some streaming. I found that if I disconnect the Bluetooth connection with the HA and my smartphone, the batteries will last about 8 hours more. My batteries are free so I normally leave them connected.
What is your average daily wear time from the app? 80 hours doesn’t sound like a lot. That would only be 5 to 6 days for me, which is what I get from the 312s.
I bought M90’s with 312 batteries as I liked the idea of being able to carry a spare pack around with to change when I need to when out and about. Problem is they just eat up the batteries because of the bluetooth facility (I have experimented by turning bluetooth off for a week and I certainly got a bit longer battery life). Before I got maybe a week with a 312 but now I only get 4 to 5 days. That is no problem as my deal includes free batteries for 5 years so cost not really an issue. In hindsite maybe the rechargeable might have been a better option as I believe you can get a portable charger as well as the plug in one included in the package.
really depends on severity of loss as well and the receivers you use. I have to use UP receivers for my loss and my M90-13T get 5 days reliably, but no more. Others get much longer than me, because they don’t need as much power. It makes sense. If I stream a TON, like 3+ hours per day every day while using that battery, I’ll get 4 days. But I usually stream ~1 hour throughout the day. I have noticed Roger eats up battery as well, but haven’t figured that out as much yet - need to play with it more.
I wear my HA for 13 to 14 hours per day. The batteries that I am using have exp Jan 2020 so that I am sure has an effect on the run time of the batteries. I have newer batteries but figure that I am getting some time on them and plan to use them up before going to the new one. I hate to waste them and I even get them free.
