Are hearing aids through an ENT or audiologist?

hello all! i recently had posted my hearing test results and many of you, as did the guy who did the test, said i would benefit from hearing aids. i told my mom about this and she talked to an ENT she works with about getting an appointment and she made one for me for next week. issue is, he only wants to retest me to make sure my results were “correct” as my mom says. i’m a little frustrated as i now have to wait a week to get the same results to have to wait even further to get an appointment to get fitted for hearing aids. i’m convinced my mom said something to the doctor about not believing it since she always does the “you never complained about it to me” when it comes to my issues and she has been adamant there is nothing wrong with my hearing. i want to see the ENT to see if this will get worse and see if we can determine a cause but would the ENT even be the one to do hearing aids? or should i look into making an appointment with an audiologist as well?

A couple Audiologists administered my hearing tests before my ENT appt. They said I would probably benefit from HAs. My ENT checked off a box for me to see one of the audiologists at the practice on the way out. We had a brief chat after the ENT appt. whereby an appointment was made to come back and be fitted. I was scared of the price and cancelled it later. It took awhile to figure everything out about how I’d get the hearing aids. But once I knew I would be getting them, I was anxious to have them. I don’t know of ENTs that fit HAs, but I suppose they are out there.

Sometimes parents do not want to accept that their child might have problems. I myself forced my son to eat salmon while he was very allergic to it. Took me a while to figure out he wasn’t just being picky and faking nausea… Oh my god did I felt guilty!
She might be in denial somehow and/or feel guilty that she havent realized you had issues and haven’t taken you take the test. And guilt feeling makes people act in weird ways. The new results should solve that point.

Every ENT that I have been to had a hearing aid sales person/fitter in the same office, and was glad to do a hearing test and sell me aids. The DR. usually does not do the hearing test.

It is not uncommon for clinics to want to do their own audiograms, particularly if a pattern looks suspicious, or if they think a test is incomplete in some way. This is certainly true in clinics where physicians are considering surgery. Most of the time, when we repeat a test on an outside patient the results are more or less similar. However, every once in a while we get something wildly different.
When you see an ENT physician, typically he/she will not be the one administering a hearing test. More likely than not this will be done by an audiologist. However, afterward, the ENT will review the test results with you. Some ENTs will run a little conservative and may order additional testing and/or imaging, but anything regarding hearing aids would be left to the audiologist.
