Anyone tried REXTON REACH hearing aids? Are disposable battery versions coming?

Just to be clear, are we talking about continuous blinking when the charger/case is not connected to anything? (with hearing aids inside, obviously).

If the charger is plugged into USB power the LED’s will continue to flash all night. If you unplug the USB cable and charge the aids with the chargers built in battery it will flash for 7 sec’s then go dark.

Yeah, I can imagine some people being unaware that it’s a portable charger/case with internal battery that holds at least 3 recharges on its own. I connect mine to charge once a week, at most.

What phone are you using? Directly to the aids or via a streamline mic?

Oh, so it’s not that my charger is defective! My Jabra portable charger didn’t flash when plugged in. So I will either unplug the Rexton charger at night or continue to stick it in my nightstand drawer. (And I’ll remove my note to call Costco about my ‘defective’ charger! )

There’s no point in charging it every night. Twice or once a week will suffice [depending on thee use]. Also consider buying Qi wireless, mat or puck, you just put the charger on it without caring about any cables.

If white tape allows light through then it is not electrical tape…

It says 3M electrical tape on the roll I used to dim some LED lights…No point in arguing it.

I’ve even seen particularly bright leds shine through black tape. It was very dim, but made it sufferable in my bedroom without eliminating the ability to see that it was on if examined closely.

Is reading a couple pages of the user guide or believing the folks here that hard?

The charger is made to be charged once then used to charge the aids (unplugged) until when you remove the aids and the light is amber then it’s time to recharge the charger.

Update. Mixed feelings. What I like about the hearing aids pertaining to sound quality still holds. The BT connection to my Pixel 7a is the problem. Rexton told me that premium phones usually have better hearing aid software and hardware. The 7a is a mid tier phone so that may be the reason for the dropping out. I could try switching to an iPhone. I’m also connected to an IPad 10 and that connection is flawless. Thoughts?

I just wrote a comment about this. I’ve had a lot of connection problems using my Pixel 7a phone, but my IPad 10 connection is fantastic. Once the connection was set up in my IPad there has not been a single problem. On the other hand, I have to reconnect several times a day with the phone.

Please give us a NEW update. Any more Olive Garden stories?

Just FYI, what they did with changing directionality should be unnecessary. That’s the whole point of the Reach platform, they have several beams looking for speech continuously and following it if found, automatically.

I do not agree, often I find a loud voice behind me in a restaurant and auto will find it and amplify it, I can turn that unwanted voice off with the direction controls

That’s a valid user case, I agree. But unfortunately it shows that the implementation is subpar, the beam behind is treated differently (there are three in front and one in the back).

True but I always seem to find a table near a group that never stops talking louder than the people l am with.

I think Matthew Allsop (Hearing Tracker’s in-house audiologist) gives the REACH an excellent video review on YouTube.

I got my Rexton Reach from Costco about 2 months ago and just returned them last week. I found that they did not reduce the distracting noise when I was in a crowd or noisy environment. For me, they did just the opposite and seemed to amplify the noise to an unbearable level so I had to remove the hearing aids. If I reduced the volume to a comfortable level, it was the same as if I didn’t have them in. They were comfortable enough to wear for extended periods and they held a charge for more than a day. The recharging case worked well and easily provided multiple recharges of the aids before the case needed recharging. It took a few visits to retune the aids to provide the correct frequency coverage and I was able to make fine adjustments with the Rexton app on my phone. When I used the app to try and focus the sound to better pick up conversations from someone sitting in front or off to the side, it did little to bring down the background noise level and merely reduced the volume for everything. I found the Rexton app a bit quirky. On a few occasions, it locked up when I went into the adjustments apps and I had to uninstall and reinstall the app. The aids were great for streaming audio from my Android phone or PC. The audio occasionally ping-ponged back and forth between the phone and the hearing aids when on phone calls. I wore them consistently for the two months I had them but ultimately did not find any advantage to them since they failed to meet my expectations.

The person at Costco was extremely attentive and did her best to re-tune them to meet my expectations. The return process was very easy and my money was refunded to my credit card immediately.

If you are considering trying them, I would strongly advise going to a Costco if you are a member and the store is close enough. They allow users to try them for 6 months with a no-questions-asked return policy.
