I am a long time hearing aid user and considering a new device (old one is 18 years old).
The audiologist recommended ReSound Key. I really do not care for any “special features” ( remote control, Bluetooth, etc,) as I know I would not use them. I want a simple BTE that supports manual volume control, telecoil and is reliable.
I was told that firmware downloads are not free. Is this correct? Does your audiologist notify you if there are upgrades or fixes available?
If you have any experience with ReSound Key, I’d appreciate your answer.
You should trial more then one brand, depending on your needs you may not like the sound of the ReSound Key.
Well depends on what your audiologist means by “free” the manufacturer offers the firmware for “free” and if should be offered to you at no cost, if they want to actually charge you then you need to find another audiologist clinic, But in saying that, you could do the download yourself through the App in most cases, you need to get the model that offers bluetooth.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
Is the sound really different with the Key than with most other major brands? Is there any “qualification” for what that means, what people don’t like about it? I am asking because trying out multiple brands can cost a few hundred $s.
Only you can know this, this is why some people like to try a few different brands/models before making a purchase, some people like Phonak, others Oticon and some…well you get the picture.
Yes, but only you will know what sounds best to you, no one else can do this for you, so best HA for you is the one that sounds how you like to hear… You are now “qualified” to tell others which brand worked best for you.
I would just trial two, no need to trial multiple brands, as you’ll most likely just end up confused!
BTY what model are you using at the moment?
Yeah so you’ll notice Starkey is not so popular on the forums, good enough for some tho, well let everyone know how you get on with the Keys, could be interesting.
