Android hands-free question

Newbie here. Hearing aids are Phillips 9050. Cellphone is Samsung S23. Bluetooth is connected. Hearing Aid Compatibility turned on in cellphone.

I have a two-way (hands-free) audio question.

When making and receiving a call, I can hear the person with whom I’m speaking through the HAs, but they cannot hear me unless I speak directly into the cellphone. It was my understanding that once the phone and the HAs have been paired and Cellphone Compatibility is on, I should be able to leave the phone in my pocket or leave the phone in one room and move to another room and use the HAs for both speaking and listening.

It’s not working. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks, Don

Can you accept the call from your aids? If not then you don’t have full hands free.
Also is your phone fully updated?
My INTENT1 aids connect to my phone with le audio, once I enable le audio my aids show as a single Bluetooth connection. But with le audio disabled my aids show as 2 Bluetooth connections.
I double tab either of my ear by the aids to answer and disconnect calls.

Hi Don. Can you check the settings on your phone for the Bluetooth connection to your aids? Make sure ‘phone calls’ is on. My Phonak aids and Motorola Android phone work perfectly together. I guess you might have a compatibility issue. I trialled the latest Phonak infinio sphere aids and they didn’t work as well. So I think there are issues with android phones and hearing aids.

Find the hearing aid manual.
It should tell you what to do with LE Bluetooth.

My manual only says that my INTENT1 aids are le audio compatible.

I am sorry meant for op.

Question.
Can the Phillips 9050 do Android hands free?
I can’t remember.

Good question but if it is truly built off of the Oticon INTENT platform it should.

On the Pixel 8, you go to the Bluetooth connection in settings. There’s a switch to turn on LE Audio for that connection. Things might be slightly different on the Samsung, but there will be a way. I’ve taken a call with the 9050 and my Pixel in my pocket. It works.

On the S23 under Settings > Connections > Bluetooth you will see your hearing aids listed. Select the gear icon on the right and you should see the LE Audio switch.

Is this on? If not enable it.

Hope this helps.

Samsung S23 runs well for hands free calls with Philips 9050 and Oticon Intent. I’ve tested both HA.

You have to switch on LE audio and also switch off calls in smartwatch, if you have smartwatch.

I have calls enabled for my smart watch and my INTENT1 aids works great for full hands free. My phone, Samsung S23, is fully updated but my aids needs the latest firmware update. I am waiting on the VA unfortunately.

Big thanks!!! It’s working. Finally!
