I am so so annoyed! I tried the Widex Allures today. The new Allure app is not accessible for a blind person, the previous Moment app was. I am sure I heard on one of the marketing blurbs that they had made it accessible. The tech support guy from Widex on the phone also told me this. Even if all of that is wrong however, we are in 2025, these things are upwards of 5k and the bloody app should be usable by all people, including those with other disabilities which guess what? means it should be tested by people with disabilities.
As it is, the buttons are all mislabeled and you cannot control the volume or EQ sliders. You can sort of half get around this by using iPhone hearing aid features but that doesn’t help you if you want to create custom programs with the app.
Oticon broke their app some time ago. Starkey had problems a while back as well although I’ve not tried them in a while. I’ve read on here blind people with remotely controled CI’s have the same problems. The best one I’ve tried so far is Phonak.
Tomorrow, I am going to make a very angry phone call to Widex. and before anyone asks, no I wil not be going forward with the allures. Not just for this reason although that is a big part of it
