A Brief Review of the Phonak Audeo Lumity L50-R

My Kaiser SoCal insurance allows for new HA every three years, but they mandate that I go to HearUSA. My Phonak Marvel M50 HA were 3 1/2 years old, and I was quite satisfied with them. I tried some Phonak Paradise 50 HA after reading some positive reviews, but I didn’t notice any improvement in hearing quality, they were noticeably larger than the Phonak Marvel HA, and the multiple Bluetooth operation was not seamless, for me. So I returned them. Recently I Phonak Lumity HA were released so I ordered them in the L70 range, opting to pay a $500. co-pay. Just about at the end of the fitting I realized I was being fitted with the lower, L50 range (which they mistakenly ordered), so I ordered the correct ones, and am waiting for them to come in. What I have noticed thus far is 1. Speech, clarity of my acoustic guitar, and sound from music and movies streaming from my iPhone or MacBook Air is noticeably better compared to the Marvels. It could be the more recent adjustment according to my most recent assessment, but I don’t think so. The Lumity 50 just seem “crisper” in sound quality. Next, I notice that they are almost identical in size to the Marvels, while the Paradise were definitely larger. So far the multi-streaming works OK. The HA stay connected to my iPhone, but even though minutes before they were hooked up to BOTH the iPhone and laptop, the connectivity drops to the laptop, and I must insert them into the charger to “restart” them to get them to connect to both devices again. I will pick up the Lumity 70 on Monday, and I understand that a Phonak rep will be there, so I’ll have my Bluetooth questions ready. Stay tuned…
