9050's and phone calls

The new 9050’s are working pretty well with my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, but I realized this morning that when talking on a call, I need the phone’s microphone to pick up my voice. I would think the HA’s would handle that. I need to have the phone in my hand. If I put the phone in my pocket the other person can barely hear me. I’ve got a call in to Costco. Any thoughts?

The Note 20 does not have le audio, so your aids can not take advantage of their le audio capacity.
I have the INTENT1 aids and Samsung s23 phone that does have le audio and I have full hands free.
Don’t blame your aids for the lack of capabilities of your phone.

That’s why i asked for thoughts. Not sure where the issue lied. No blame. I just got off the phone with Phillips and they let me know my phone’s not capable. I’d need your S23 or an A54. They’re still testing the newer S24 and S25. So I’ve got a decision to make pretty soon. (I hate to let my phone go because its got a 1GB SD card while the new phones have no card option.)

The new phones have a lot more internal storage. My S23 has 128gigs of internal storage. I use very little of it.

Yeah, my Note 20 has the same 128GB internal capacity but it’s almost all used, as is the 1T SD card. I use it for work. There is a 1T internal memory version of the new S25 Ultra that may handle my needs, but Phillips hasn’t finished testing it yet. Assuming it works out OK I’ll be upgrading that way :slightly_smiling_face:

You can get the newer Samsung phones within I believe up to a tbit of storage. I personally keep very little on my phone.

I have more books then anything else.

Been debating whether to buy a Kindle for around 5 years but keep telling myself I can just use my phone and the Kindle App.

Now I’m running out of room

I have my Kindle, and my fire tablet, due to my eyesight I prefer the Kindle e-ink screen. I do listen to ebooks on my phone, both by way of audible and text to speech. But the phone screen is just too small for comfortable reading for even a short chapter.

Glad that’s working out for you :+1:

I’ve got 9050s and a Pixel 8 Pro and handsfree is working most of the time. Very occasionally my voice sounds completely garbled to the person I’m talking to and I have to either call them back or do a quick switch over to speaker. Just so you’re aware. Android 16 will allow the user to choose between the aids’ and the phone’s microphones. That’s a bit of insurance that might be worth waiting for. Depends on how many calls you make and how important they are I guess.

Seems that iPhones have no trouble, but that’s not happening anytime soon. Hopefully things improve with these newer Androids soon. I read last night somewhere that getting into Developer Mode helps things get & stay connected ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I used IPhone for 9 years with my Oticon aids. I have had less issues with my Samsung S23 phone than I had with IPhone and IOS. I had a lot more issues with the apps, and phone calls were hit and miss. I have been using the Samsung S23 for about 2 years with very little issues, and no issues the last 9 months.

If this thread is still about 9050s and phone calls, mine worked great with an iPhone 12 and are working great with a 16. Until yesterday when two people said they couldn’t hear me. I suspected the mics were dirty and cleaned both sides all over. All better after that. As was hearing overall.

Note to self: wipe ‘em down now and then.

I had them. Get an iPhone. Phonak Infinio Sphere I90. You’ll never look back.
