Does anyone know if there are 3D custom-made dome scans?
They can never get one of mine correct, it always slides out. I have had many done by different people so I am guessing my canal is just very narrow.
Even when the aid is in my ear, the receiver wire will not fit close to my ear, it always loops out.
I believe there are scanners for making custom molds but I don’t know that they’re any better than making an impression. Different factors can effect how well they stay in: material (silicon is generally better for not sliding out), retention additions (canal lock or skeleton mold), how deep the mold goes into the ear. Can take lots of trial and error. I had issues even after having a canal lock added and made bigger, but was resolved by me inserting it at a 90 degree different orientation. This pointed the canal lock down and my ear pushed up on it and kept it in place.
I am not sure what mine are made of but I would say some type of plastic made by Phonak.
I see the customs ones are not called domes in the States, so mine are custom moulds, yes.
I’ll look into canal locks and skeleton molds and hope that it will help.
Thank you!
I very recently got 3 D custom silicone molds after struggling with badly fitted traditional ones and they are absolutely fantastic: very discrete and completely comfortable.
