40yo. Deaf in left ear from childhood onward. 2 failed reconstructive surgeries. Just got my first hearing aid last year. Tinkerer, maker, hacker. Almost never happy with anything out of the box. Technologically inclined, for a better world, for all. Tired of being “sold” things, instead of people listening to my needs. Also tired of doctors cutting and failing. No more surgeries.
