I´ve been deaf since I had measles meningitis as a toddler. I went to a school for the deaf aged 3 - 5 and then threw my hearing aids away and went into normal grade 1. I’m very active, swim a lot, sweat a lot, and my hearing aids often breakdown due to moisture issues. I moved to Portugal a couple of years ago. My early life, university & work was in Cape Town & South Africa, and later, in London, UK, and then Canada. Now I live in the Algarve with my partner and two Portuguese water dogs on a hillside overlooking the Atlantic.
