Retired CWO4 (2015) and have over 40 years of service in the United States Coast Guard (31 Active Duty) 9 years as a Civilian. I’m currently serving as Sector Columbia River Third Party Organization Coordinator (TPOC).
For the first 14 years of my career, I served in the Engineering Departments on Coast Guard Cutters and small boats. All with loud engine rooms. As a Marine Inspector for the Coast Guard, I’m routinely exposed to loud noise in places like shipyards and in the engine rooms of the vessels I inspect.
When I retired form active duty in 2015 I was evaluated by the VA for hearing loss. In 2024 I was reevaluated and give hearing aids for moderate hearing loss in the upper registers (Ski Slope hearing loss). I have two sets of hearing aid – Phonak Audeo Lumity 90-RL (from the VA) and an over the counter (OTC) pair of JVC hearing aids (same as the IntriCon Tuned L155 OTC Hearing Aids).
I’m glad to be a part of the Hearing Tracker community and I’m looking forward to the things I can learn from others!
