I’ve had tinnitus for over 40 years so I’m used to the constant high pitched screeching. Upto 2kHz my hearing is good but above 2kHz my audiogram drops off a cliff into the severe and profound hearing loss bands. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) loss test shows for hearing in noise I need 9.5 dB signal to noise. Hearing higher pitch female voices in background noise (eg in cafes and restaurants) is a major problem and my main concern. I’ve just started a 30 day trial of Phonak Infinio 90 Sphere AI hearing aids which are claimed to improve the SNR by upto 10 dB.
