Adjusting_to_Hearing

I have a bilateral hearing loss. Left: Moderate 30 db to 1500Hz sloping to 60db in high frequencies. Right: Normal (15 db) to 1500Hz then sloping to 40/45 db. high frequencies. In last 11 months Left has dropped 10-15 db across all frequencies. (I do annual hearing tests with an audiologist)

I have been aided bilaterally for two years. Phonak Paradise P70 (battery powered) and I love them. Word recognition 88 on Left and 100 on right. So far, they work well for me. I do not manage well in background noise (restaurant/car/urban walks) and utilize my partner mic on those occasions. That little partner mic is wonderful support in noisy environments.

I have followed this forum for some time and decided to join. The forum and Michael’s UTUBE videos have been very helpful as I learned to adjust to becoming a hard of hearing person and one with a fluctuating worsening hearing loss on the left.

Sincerely
ML

I have has (SSND) more than once. While hearing somewhat recovers, it is less than before. No acoustic Neuroma… MRI first episode. Off for balance tests with audiologist next week. I will ask GP for a follow-up to the ENT from the past.

Currently aided bilaterally: Phonak Audeo Paradise P70 battery powered. I love them. Was thankful they can be useful with my hearing loss changes and not need to replace them.

I have followed the Hearing Tracker forum and Hearing tracker UTUBE sessions Michael and have found them very helpful. Michael and Dr Cliff UTUBE videos were so helpful before the initial hearing tests. I find Michael easy to understand, slower paced speech and deeper sounding voice makes a difference.
I keep wondering if I’ll end up completely deaf on the left side one day?
So I have been researching CROSS and BICROSS systems. I feel better to know about them. The audiologist said, “You might need a different kind os hearing aid on the left in the future. Maybe not… but maybe.”
So I went to the Hearing Tracker UTUBE Videos and discovered CROSS/BICROSS aids. Tucked the information into my back pocket as it were… maybe not I told myself.

Thank you for having the Videos available on UTUBE. I found them very helpful over the last couple of years.
Sincerely,
ML
