So, I use a TransEar - one single hearing aid, inside the deaf ear, uses bone conduction to send input across to the other (good) ear. I’m generally quite happy with it
I got it early this year. Used it for a few months, didn’t have it for a few weeks while it went back to manufacturer to be repaired. Then got it back.
Before it went for repair, my wife had mentioned that she thought I was less able to understand/hear her while using it. After I got it back from repair, she remarked on it again (since the absence for the repair had made the contrast marked).
Now, I love the aid in general, and it clearly helps me hear better at work, when out and about, and with our kids. But you know, she might be right - with her speech, for some reason, I seem to miss slightly more when I am using it!
Has anyone else experienced anything like that? My only theory is that maybe with the aid I hear more competing noise/sounds. Which doesn’t explain why this only seems to happen with her speech. So hmm.
(No doubt there is good fodder for jokes here, but I’m genuinely puzzled …)
