Widex announces Real-Life Insights

New data connection gives hearing care professionals insight into their clients’ hearing choices

September 9, 2019

Now there’s a new option for hearing care professionals to be there with their client – even when they’re not.

Widex Real-Life Insights shares data about the user’s saved hearing aid programs from their smartphones to the hearing care professional’s fitting software. That way the hearing care professional gets insights into the specific program settings that a user has created and saved, including when they created it and what their listening intention was at the time. This helps hearing care professionals provide more tailored hearing care and get closer to perfecting every client’s hearing.

“Real-Life Insights is an industry first. Never before has the hearing care professional been so close to experiencing the user’s real-life challenges first-hand and helping them solve those exact challenges. With Real-Life Insights, we look forward to closing the knowledge gap between client and professional,” says CEO Jørgen Jensen.

Users have two ways to create the programs that they can share: they can make their own adjustments, or they can use SoundSense Learn. SoundSense Learn is the advanced AI algorithm in WIDEX EVOKE that guides users to personalise their hearing in the moment and create hearing programs with their smartphones. SoundSense Learn has thousands of users all over the world.

User consent is key

Getting the insights from the user’s smartphone to the hearing care professional’s software requires user consent. In the WIDEX EVOKE app, users can easily give or decline consent to sharing their data, and they can change their minds at any time. Data is securely shared between the smartphone app and the fitting software.

Two new connected hearing aids help tailor hearing

2.4 GHz connectivity is the technology that allows hearing aids to connect to a smartphone app so that their data can be shared with a hearing care professional. Two new Widex hearing aids offer this technology.

WIDEX EVOKE BTE 13 D is a 2-in-1 hearing aid that accommodates a wide range of hearing loss and has been optimised for easy handling. WIDEX EVOKE RIC 312 D comes with optional rechargeability. Both solutions come in attractive new designs, offer streaming, and ensure that users always get the best possible pure and personal sound.

I presume this requires EVOKE Fusion 2 and Sound Sense app. I have a post on making this work as BLE and app are a little flaky.

Oddly, WIDEX still hasn’t officially announced the ENJOY platform.

This “ Real Life Insights “ sounds like regular HA log time tracking to me.

True. A totally new platform with a dual core chip.
