Why do you feel you need back up hearing aids - if you do?

You could have Costco send in your KS10s for a fee. You should be close to, if not exactly, like new when done.

I had them done last year just before warranty end. Battery life is definitely down from then.

yes, I need back up hearing aids for two reasons:
1 The older ones did not last the 17 to 18 hours I need them ( lots of podcast and other battery consuming use).
2. I need to hear during the night, I wear the older pair in bed. I need to hear when my old dog needs to get up in the middle of the night, as well as all the strange things that happen with the various appliances at home ( like smoke alarm batteries).
I had the Resound Omnia bought in 2023 and I bought the Resound Vivia this year out of pocket, after trying the Phonak sphere infinio and the Oticon Intent . Things work well so I plan to keep two sets going forward.

My KS10’s lasted 8 months after replacement before the right one stopped charging. Costco sent it for repair £120 with a 90 day warranty.

I like to be ready to go with something in case i lose or have a problem with a hearing aid. Also I’ve been able to learn a lot from my previous fitting history that I can apply to my newer fittings.

Three pairs for me

Infinio Spheres - The greatest hearing aids ever made (bought these from Audi as the Audi is as important as the aids) - battery life is insane, these have never ran out in a day
Lumity Life - for Cycling (bought from eBay - Self Programmed)
KS10 - Backups - Paradise originally from Costco and allows two different app setups which is handy as both can be connected at same time to phone and Roger

I self program so basically match the backup pairs to my / my families latest programmes from my Audi

I have Roger On, use the free licence trick to pair it to all three pairs

My Mum and my Son, also both wear aids and I programmed them up spares I bought from eBay which match their Paradise and Lumity aids

In my experience it’s the Costo / Easyline Charger. I just use Phonak ones and never had a problem, they are universal with Paradise / Marvel Chargers

Yes, Think the charger was the reason Costco and Sonova had the fall out. This time for me it was definitely the battery, made no difference swapping right to left in the charger, just a solid red light.

Hi! I am confused. You say you do your own programming, but that you “purchased from Audi, because she is as important as the aids”
But she is not doing the programming, you are.
Also you said “family” but each person has their own ears, right ?
Really confused here… can you please help me to understand ?
Thank you in advance for the detail.

I have done my own programming for years but you cannot get better than a really good Audi. Mine sets originally and then I work with him on tweaks and structures.

I then replicate this work on the backup ones I buy.

Perfect combination for me.

Same for the rest of the family too.

I don’t feel I need backup aids, I know I do. Two times now I’ve done something too stupid to confess and ended up having to go back to my previous aids for a couple of weeks while waiting for replacements of current ones.

I keep my old aids as backup when I get new ones and right now, I can’t wait until I can afford new ones, so the “old” ones will be rechargeable!!
I also like to listen to audiobooks at night, and I use the “old aids” for that while the current ones are charging. AND the one time I had to have a current aid repaired, I was very thankful to have older aids to wear!

You’ve got that right. I had my old ones renewed and sitting in my drawer. Even though they are for 2013.

I take my Rexton Reach out at the gym and leave in my locker. My Etymotic Research earbuds are very isolating when pumping music, sound is on a level with the Reaches too. Far better experience. Blocks out clanking, chatter and the gym’s stream of audio.

I just ordered a pair of m90-13T from eBay. These will either be my primary aids or will back up my m50-13T. My present backups are m90-312 that are not quite perfect. It will be nice to only have to keep one size battery. Here are the approximate prices paid:
m90-312 $600
m50-13T $250
m90-13T $250

I recently got the Sennheiser to replace my KS 10’s for two reasons. 1. I needed to send my KS10’s in for warranty work on the right hearing aid, and the right aid controls streaming. That made living with just one quite difficult. I am a lawyer, and between telephone streaming to hearing in crowded courtrooms with lousy acoustics, it was worth the money to me to upgrade to the Sennheiser (which is a nice step up anyway) for that reason. Second, I was looking at some out-of-State business travel (meaning without my Husband) for the first time since I got hearing aids. I was concerned about being able to hear an alarm to get up in time. With a backup pair, if I needed to, I could wear one in my left ear (I sleep on my right side) at night and still have a fully charged pair when I woke up.

I’m glad you found a solution.
How has the transistion worked out for you? How are your new hearing aids working for you?

I’ve had issues getting replacement hearing aids setup properly.
