I have had remote adjustment once it failed and I had to go in the clinic to get my aids redone. I am not a fan of remote adjustments anymore.
Yeah, once in a while.
Some issues are related to the app, sure, so avoiding it might cut down on issues. But some are just related to bluetooth. Phones actually like to rebooted once in a while, which no one does but it can help.
Hah. The idea of not turning oneās phone off every once in awhile is foreign to me. People think I should have mine āonā more often.
After being on-call most most of my IT career⦠(40 years) I rarely carry my phone and if the call isnāt from a friend donāt answer. In fact I think have ptsd associated with a phone.
Left aid button does volume & mute
Right does program changes (only have default and heavily modified restaurant)
Canāt remember the last time I needed the app
As a retired IT professional I know what you mean about being on call. But due to my hearing loss and streaming the calls to my aids is the only way I understand the call I keep my phone close by. I am now kind of on call a few days a week helping my brother and sister Veterans that are struggling with there issues we lose for too many to suicide.
Thank you for that service, Chuck.
I have a few years to go before I can āretireā from my agency. But I need to have a plan for what Iāll do after that. I donāt plan to retire until they are putting me in the dirt.
WH
Admirable retirement service, Chuck, I salute your dedication, to an extremely worthwhile cause, any suicide is one too many; Thank you for your duty of careā¦ā¦
As for the hearing aid apps, they are probably more trouble than they are worth? I can probably count on the one hand, how many times I would use the app, in a year? And, I am a self proclaimed techy, I occasionally self program my aids, my Phonak Paradise or my Marvels, are predominately left in āAutosenseā, once paired to my iPhone 12, thatās it⦠Cheers Kev
I must say I really donāt agree with that. I use the app constantly with my Resounds. I have had LINX, LINX 2, LINX 3D, LINX Quattro and now Resound One. I find the app works really well to allow me to finesse them in almost any situation. I wouldnāt buy hearing aids that didnāt work well with a control app.
I couldnāt count on one hand how often I use the app in one hourā¦.
It is all horses for courses, obviously
It seems that in all cases the apps are an afterthought
Lots of app haters here! Understandable, too.
The Oticon On app is pretty threadbare, but I use it daily for the E.Q when music streaming.
Just to emphasize how poorly thought-out the app is, the E.Q. only presents when streaming, so for listening to music through speakers, or a concert, no E.Q.
What were they thinking?
With my More1 and the MYMusic program the equalizer does work for listening to music without it being streaming
@cvkemp, Chuck, it does appear, but it is white, not green, and the biggie is itās a āStreaming Equalizerā per the attached screenshot:
It does work I use it all the time for listening to jazz and classical music
In most cases, not all. ReSound app does a lot, and in my experience works really well and quickly, on iOS at least.
@cvkemp Only if youāre streaming.
Has zero effect when listening through speakers, headphones.
Hence, the nomenclature: Streaming equalizer
Sorry I disagree agree it does work for me maybe not for you.
Iām very fortunate with that too. The 1% of the time is when Iām streamingāI might have to disconnect from phone and connect to laptop. Otherwise I just āset-em and forget-emā. I donāt even have the phonak app anymore. (I donāt have any issues with the appāI just donāt need it.)
01-21-22 UPDATE: I picked up my new HAs a couple days ago. Theyāre essentially an ITE version of the M90s (with disposable batteries as opposed to rechargeable). I can push the button to take a phone call, but there is no rocker switch for volume control. I did install the app todayādonāt know how much Iāll use it 'cause the automatic setting works fine.
BTW, I also breaking in a new phone. I traded in my LG G6 for the Moto G Power. The LG G6 has done an awesome job for me, but it was starting to have battery issues. So far the Moto G Power has been a delight and way more phone than I could have expected for the price.
I think that the level of hearing loss may be a consideration in using the the app and every technology available on any model of aid. Itās great that others donāt need an app, but at my level of loss, I need all the help I can get
Well, everything is relative, perhaps your loss @mr.smithster is slightly more complicated than mine, but personally I would love your loss, as opposed to my ownā¦. I think, it all comes down to personal choice, I find the Phonak app slow, and limited, it takes its time to load, all too often, I have to reconnect, by rebooting by the right aid, if it were instantaneous, then yes I would probably use it more⦠As it stands, it just isnāt worth the hassle
