VA Warranty Timeframe for rechargeables?

Does anyone know how long the VA gives us on rechargeable hearing aids for the warranty for batteries? I’d hope to be able to send my Spheres in after a few years for a refresh / new batteries. I’ve recently sent in some older pairs (312s) to get rebuilt / refreshed - no questions asked. How long is a good time to get the batteries replaced either way?

The govt won’t get whacked a fee if they go in before the end of warranty, three years normally. They will pretty much do whatever your audiologist thinks is important for your treatment. I didn’t have backup aids before I got my infinios, so we waited to send then in, even though that took my aids out of the warranty window. She felt it more important that I have working aids than saving the fee. When I was issued the infinios, my old aids went in a bag and were boxed to go in for refurb. They shipped them to my house almost exactly a week after they went in. Ten days, I think, to get them back.

Fantastic. I’ll mark 2.5 years down on my calendar! It won’t be 10 days turnaround for me, however. First, I’ll will be waiting on an appointment at the Manila VA, mailing off Stateside and return back to Philippines.

I have been getting my aids from the VA for 20+ years. I haven’t paid a cent out of my pocket for anything. I also get my eye exams and glasses, my prescription drugs from tje VA at no cost.

Don’t sweat it:

Veterans can typically receive a new set of hearing aids from the VA every three years. However, this may vary based on individual needs and circumstances.

My understanding is that they use the manufacturer’s warranty (usually 3 years) and then the repair center in St. Louis. They mailed mine to the manufacturer during 3 year window. The bigger question for me is how to get service/warranty for my aids now that the VA dis-enrolled me from VA healthcare…

Why were you removed from the VA health care? As a veteran that is your right and benefit.

Not true, there are several qualifiers. I have reapplied, worked on jet engines without any hearing protection. 91 now, so not much fight left. This seems off topic, so I will drop it.

I spend 8 years in the Navy as an Electronics technician. My first station was a Naval Air Station. I spend a lot of time on the flight line and taking care of equipment between the runways. Then I was recruited for White House Communications Agency and traveled the world in the cargo bay of the C141. All without any protection or nothing useful. I am 50% disabled just for my hearing loss. I have been wearing aids for 20 years from the VA and I get my glasses and medicine all with put cost.

Never heard of such a thing…

I will leave it at this:

That isn’t all of the information. I would go talk to a local VSO and refill. I went in the Navy November 1968 and got out in February 1977. My records say I never was assigned overseas and I wasn’t stationed on a ship. But all I can say is that I saw the world, and provided secure communications for 3 Presidents. My disability is my hearing loss and that was caused by flying in the cargo bay of the C141 without any provided hearing protection.

Whatever…
