As far as I know, the Dry and Store uses UV-C…which is not as hard on plastics as UV-B as it doesn’t penetrate the surface. That’s the science…but I have no real experience. I think the UV is ENTIRELY unnecessary. If you don’t want the UV, no need to replace the Dry and Store…just take the bulb out.
Taking a moment to wipe your HA’s with a clean, slightly damp cloth (perhaps with a small amount of very mild soap) is more than enough to remove anything your ear is going to transfer to your HA’s. Unless you are dropping your ITE in a bacterial culture, I see no reason for UV disinfection (AKA: IT’S a FAD).
I have the Zephyr and it works great…and is significantly cheaper than any of the UV models.
